here's one for the helo pilots....

This wonderful event happened last night when I was playing, and I'm curious if any other pilots out there have had something similar happen....

Zatar Wetlands, 32 player map...

3-4 of us in TS playing. Me and another guy take the central spawn and finally get the supercobra...

We're flying around, working over tanks and such, when we see the MEC transport helo flying about......so we head after it, my gunner misses with the TV, but I get most of my missles into it, and he is gunning the crap out of it.....

As the helo tries to get away we notice the pilot (only 1 on board) bail out and parachute from a high altitude. So, I'm looking at him floating helplessly and I'm thinking "Its time to get a roadkill in a helo -- in mid-air".

We head after him, I drop the nose down and can just about see his facial expression through the windshield when I hit him........then...BAM!! Our helo explodes and it lists me, my gunner, and the parachutist as "no more". No kills, no tk's, nothing. And our helo couldn't handle hitting someone mid-air without exploding....and as far as I remember it was at full health..... wtf?! :|: :evil:

erm, to wat i kno, the parachute is "metal", at least it sounds like it, cuz i once parachuted next to a flag pole, it hit the pole and made this metal on metal sound.....

If you hit a parachute in real life it can block the view of the helicopter or get tangled in the fast turning blades, causing it to crash and go out of control.

no what you heard was the ambient flag pole sound. stand next to a flag pole and youll hear the same sound

(seriously, if it isnt a bug, then the guy must of threw all his C4 in the air, then when you flew on it you made it blow. But then again, he would have two kills...)

maybe he bailed out cos his heli was on fire? it then takes a few seconds to explode BUT would have the exact effects you describe, as no one can be credited the kills from a pilot-less exploding heli. If you rammed him you must have all been close enough to be caught in any explosion.

In fact the more i think about it, the more likely that scenario may be true.

you can actually jump onto someones parachute and ride with it down, ive done it on oman, i think in BF2 the parachute is solid...

I have a video of one of my clanmembers riding someone else's parachute to the ground. Pretty cool.

yes the chutes are solid objects. I saw a movie with a person riding on the chute and i tried to get a roadkill in my jet too and got blown up except it said that i team killed my copilot
