Uh Oh!

Its been 3 days since I lost my BF2 game manual :cry: ...which is a very...very bad thing, CD Key was on it...so I'm boned for now.
I know EA can issue you a new one but I asked a question about a week ago and it said they would reply within the next business day...yeah...we see how that worked out. Well, anyways my question is some games have the CD Key stored in a file either on the CD or in the game files (often called registry or something to that effect) so does anyone know where this games CD Key can be found in the game files? If not I'll have to get a new one, but thanks in advance! :)

Lost my half-life 2 key, thanks to steam, I never have to have it again!

Exactly what I was about to say. I remember a similar problem to this, and I'm not sure if it was BF2 or another game, but the CD-Key was indeed found in the registry.

So... just open up the registry (start -> run -> regedit), use "Find", and type in "Battlefield 2" ... when you get a search result, study the files and see if any contains the CD-Key.

EDIT - I just did this myself, and sadly... I didn't find my CD-Key anywhere in the registry. There may be other options you can use to get the key back, but it's unlikely. Maybe you can eventually get EA to issue you another key? Good luck!

gettin another key you have to have the game for 90 days, send them 10$ and the game...which sucks! lol. but like I said I still cant find the key either...I dunno, thanks for trying though man. I'm gonna search a few more files here...

Is where you'll find it in your registry.

ergc? is that another subfolder? Cause only thing under that is wdc for me...

u can use registry or u can send EA 10$ so they can send u a new CD key

Went back and put in cd key, erc popped up with the cd key!

So if you dont see erc, that blows for you!

i need the CD key cause A. I'm sure Ill have to reinstall some time in the future... B. I cant get online right now for some reason, everytime it says JOINING GAME is resets to Server List, and I wanna reinstall and see if it fixes it...

good enough reasons? haha

only prob with key generators for me is that once I used a generated cd-key on another online game, and got banned somehow...idk...but hey what key generator did he get...not like I'm pirating it, I did buy the game! haha!
