Don't really understand why that would be alot better than the 6600GT? It's clock speeds are lower, and the only advantage it has is that its got more video RAM. But from reading these boards, clock speeds > video RAM.

Yeah man. Just get an x800xl. The x800gt is a downgraded x800xl. I havent seen any benches but i believe it's just a little better then the 6600gt.

the 6600gt is 128 bit
the x800gt is 256 bit

ati came 6 months late to the mid range race

the x700 pro just wasnt a match for the 6600gt
would of sold well 6 months ago



ati just looking for a way to get some more money when its losing out to nvdia

in a few months ati will have its day with the x900 series
and to let you know its considerably faster than the 6600gt

Drivers are also a huge part of performance. I find that ATI gets better performance out of lower clocks.

The higher bus width of 256bit and the extra pipelines puts this ahead of the 6600GT.
I still get a laugh when people "omg it has lower clocks so it must be slower"...
