Can you disable onscreen text in bf2?

I'd like to try playing the game with no messages onscreen or any of the massive amount of text that plagues the left side of my screen.

How can I disable all the messages that appear.

Kill reports, communication reports, everything.

And then is it possible to get rid of the little pictures that pop up when I switch weapons? Just want things to be less busy.

I'd like to remove the stupid map and have it come up only when I hit M.

if you go into options you can set the % of how the mini map and other things are seen, 0% and there gone. Dont know bout text tho.

you can make the map completely transparanent I think.... but if you just want the little circle area to come up when you press m I'm not sure how to do that.

Mabye I'll turn off that map tonight and see how that works.

the text is vital to whats going on..... I've been running along with 2-3 guys and notice that one of them was killed by a m4m203, knife, whatever... thats my cue to turn around and blast whoever has snuck up on us... hell, imagine sniping and not knowing that ur claymore just went off......next time that guy spawns ur getting knifed.

yep, most of the text is stuff you need to know

I find that very little is need to know. I want to turn it off. I don't go around killing ppl I can't see an ID on and I don't bomb enemy flags without checking hte map first. All that text is distracting and ultimately useless.

I know I'll miss something once in a while but i really don't care, I'm tired of seeing it all the time.
