What's with the crappy parachute?

This damn thing only opens like 1% of the time. WTF is up with it?

I have a very good keyboard and mouse, and the reaction time for all other games are great, but sometimes BF2 is a bit funny, like with the parachute, and even reloading sometimes.

For sure, it's another screwed up thing. I usually push 9 twenty times before it opens.

There is a delay between when it opens and when you start slowing down (to try and stop people chuting off rooves). Fly really high on single player, and eject to test it. Just press it once, and a few seconds later it'll open.

I don't know why you push 9 so many times. I know that that's the default key for the chute. I use Z and I only press it like 1 or 2 times and it always works. Unless you are too close to the wall the chute can't open because there is not enough space for it since the chute in this game is a solid object.

Tap it once, it comes out in around 1.5 seconds. You just need to wait, people expect to chute off a 10 feet high ledge and have it open immediately, it doesn't do that. Be a medic if you want to jump off little ledges like at Strike At Karkand.

Press 9 once but hold it down till the shoot is open. It seems to work far better for me like this. Pressing it multiple times can actually open and close the parachute.

Parachutes don't close in BF2. At least, not like they used to in BF1942.

Your parachute will only come out when you've been falling for long enough, IE your weapon has been lowered.

As soon as I see my weapon going down, I just keep tapping 9. My parachute opens everytime and immediately.

That's exactly what happens...if you press it once, it will open.
If you press it like a madman, it will open and close again before you even see it.
Aslo, you can jump on to paracutes as it's a solid object...do some neat stunts :)

My advice...check your shoot before you leave the ground. Dont take chances with your life beacuse you or your m8 packed a badd shoot.

If you're 'chuting near a cliffside, make sure to press W the whole time. You can control your chute movement. Also, while pressing forward, continually tap 9 even if you're shoot is out. That way you'll have a greater chance of avoiding the rock face, and even if you do hit it, chances are you'll be able to open your shoot again without dying.
