      Update punkbuster.

      Go here: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=updatepb.php
      Download: pbweb.exe

Put that file in the 'PB' folder in your BF2 directory. Double click to use.

ram has little to no effect on game play - only load time

        I have 3 systems here
the older one (P4 2.0Ghz has only 512 ram)
once it loads it plays even faster than system #2
        (P4 3.2Ghz with 1.5 ram)
the only difference is older one has better graphics card

now, with regards to lag, not even ping is that much of an issue (under 300 sholud still work - u shoot for under 200 when able, and get 80 on my clan server)

        so , , ,,

when I see lag - I just change servers
it is almost ALWAYS server related

get more ram ofcourse, but if it was running fine before than its not caused by ram.
are you using the same servers? from the same provider? some servers can give you low ping but lag like all ****.
also possible something else in your pc has changed, spyware, viruses, fragmented drive, etc. maybe you updated drivers to something that doesnt work so well.

check all that crap, one of them is bound to be the problem.

ram has a huge effect on gameplay. the game is constantly loading as you play the map. the more ram you have, the more it can load in and the less often it needs to access the hdd.

if you get bad lag when you start up (new map), more ram will solve that as it's the textures loading from Virtual memory and not standard memory, other than that looks like it could be your graphics card. It's badly underpowered, even on low detail
