Laggy on Singleplayer?

Ok, here's the deal. I played Battlefield (patched) and when I play single player, after about 5 minutes it'll go into this thing where it like pauses for about a half second and goes normal for about one second. It repeats this for about 20 seconds. Make piloting and sniping damn near impossible. Anyone have this problem? I'm running an ATI Mobility Radeon X600 Graphics card (256MB), P4 at 3.0Ghz, and 2GB of RAM. Windows XP Professional on an HP Pavilion zd8000 Laptop. And here's the kicker- Before the patch, this never happened. Just the patch or what?

i dont know if this will help, but try disk cleanup, and defrag....i find doing this every couple of days keeps my system fresh

Hey,

Just in case anyone else has this problem, I'm posting (my) solution. This may or may not work for everybody who has this problem, but this is what worked for me. I downloaded SmartClose and run this everytime before I play, and now (after playing all day) haven't experienced the lag.
