I can't play because i don't have one of those video cards?

I play bf2 on an nvidia geforce fx5200/ 1 gig/ and 2.8 ghz. But, this is on a seperate computer.

Ok here is Battlefield2's minimum System Requirments-

- Minimum Specification:
CPU: 1.7 Ghz
RAM: 512 Mb
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500
with 128 Mb of RAM

On another computer i have

2.8 ghz. pentium4 procceser / 512 (it says 504, some people have said even though it has said 504, i have 512. ) ram, and video chipset with 128 mb of ram. So battlefield2, should work.

So, just because i don't use ATI or NVIDIA on my other computer, i can't run the game? Who else has done this??

Correct, you must have one of the cards BF2 supports, otherwise you won't be able to play

I dont think the onbaord video is supported, even if it has the 128MB of memory, if its not in the readme list 99% chance its not working.

yea, i tried the demo on this computer, but seriously. This is crap, who bases the game off supported video cards? The game should be based off Memory (RAM) and GHZ, prossecer... just like every other game out there.

U need a card that is specifically listed in the readme. There is a work around for not supported cards.

yeah i did this for the demo coz at the time i only had a geforce 4. It made the game playable but the GFX were somewhat similar to Operation flashpoint.

Also u will be limited to non punkbuster servers as there are some glitches that let u look through scenery at times.

However when i tried it they have since worked on the shader mod somewhat so it could be a lot better. Don't know anymore it was 30% complete when i tried it.

Depends on how much u wanna play, id suggest saving up and purchasing a new GFX card. I could only afford a 6800 GT but i hear the game also runs well on the likes of 6600 GT (however do ya homework before splashing out on a new card)

More than likely, yes. You can not expect a non supported video card to start working correctly and be playable while using hax or workarounds because it was never meant to work with BF2 correctly in the first place.

Just bite the bullet and get on newegg.com and get yourself a refurbed 5200 or whatever floats your boat if money is a concern. They have low end DX9 cards that BF2 supports for $30 to $50.

I will try this as an experiment. Can this screw my computer up? , and how exactly do i use the work around, do i install it?

Sorry if this isn't what you're talking about....... but if you're talking about a video card screwing up your PC, then no.

All you have to do is first make sure that you have an AGP slot. (Google it up if you don't know what it looks like/is).

Then, once you purchase a video card, all there is to it is taking off the case, installing the card, starting up your PC, downloading video drivers (from ATI or Nvidia's website), installing the drivers, and then after restarting your PC you should be ready to rock'n'roll.

Oh... and I'd recommend adding another stick of 512mb RAM. 512 isn't NEAR enough for BF2, and I'd recommend AT LEAST 1 GB for best playability, else getting a new video card will not do much at all.
