controller not working in BF2

anyone seen this? not mine, a friends and i havent been there to check.

he says these controllers work in ALL current games and working in BFV and 1942 but NOT in BF2.

He said when he is trying to set controls in setup he cannot map a control. He said mapping to mouse or remapping to keyboard keys works.

Am I missing something really stupid? Or should I say "is he"...

I have a Logitech too, and the controller can quit during a game.

If you use the profiler software to load the game, and then something in the background executes while the profiler and the game are running, the controller will quit during the game.

Sometimes my Norton will pop to tell me that my antivirus definitions need updated. I alt-tab back to the desktop, close the popup, go back to the game and all is good.

Maybe something is running in the background, or maybe he could try to launch the game using the Logitech software.

guess i should have asked the obvious. i told him your ideas and he reinstalled (actually installed for the first time) the native drivers from the manufacturer and they both worked. thanks guys

and i have the logitech freedom. it is awesome. wireless and a good controller. i lover it

i have a ps2 style controller, and everything was cool, but i still had to use the mouse to aim, rendering the controller useless, is there any way to aim and control direction with the controller ala socom style on ps2 or something. Sorry, this is my first pc game.
