I got it for my first unlock. At the time, I was playing a lot of commander. So, I spent a lot of time as an engineer so I could repair my assets.
That was a mistake. Since then, I have played very little commander and very little engineer. When I do, the gun is pretty lame. It works great when you turn a corner and are 5 feet away from an enemy. Any other situation and you will lose.
Is it better than the standard shotgun? Yes. So, if you play a lot of engineer, you might want to get it. If you don't, this gun is not going to make you want to play more engineer.Comment

The Engineer Jackhammer is a nice weapon, but it's very specific in it's use. For one thing, how often is an Engineer looking for infantry fights? Also, while impressively fast, your ammo just evaporates...
I went with the DAO-12, which was great since I'm a fan of AT. It also has tons of ammo, and with a quick finger, very fast as well (although with plenty of recoil). It sounds brutal too, and is an incredible improvement over the AT's regular gun.Comment

i had a thread & poll on the subject. you can check it out for more info. like dogness says, it's not very useful (imo) cause of the limited range
