How can i fix this...?

My game runs fine decent fps. and good graphics without many problems. However sometimes when i am playing the game will crash and reboot the computer, this is accompanied by a sound that lasts for about 1 second. When the computer has rebooted itself the error report does not give any usefull info. so if any of you can help please do, dont read the thread and think 'i cant be bothered to answer' as im sure someone knows how to fix this so please can you help. I am not an expert on computers so can u give an answer that is clear and to the point. Pleae help as this is spoiling the game for me. Here are my specs

Pentium 4 processor 3.4GHz hyper threading processor
1Gb DDRZ-SDRAM
Nvidia GeForce 6200 256mb (not overclocked)
Windows XP Home

Sounds like something is overheating from my experience bro. Mine did the same and i found the mem was overheating....mem cooler stopped it....

the beep is telling you somthing.

almost certainly a memory problem, somtimes even though the ram isn't actually faulty it causes these problems due to incompatibility with your mainboard and hyperthreading or dual ddr etc.

btw its not the hardware that causes the reboot XP does that upon detecting full system failiure.

best bet is to smash that pentium to bits....grab an amd and overclock it to hell!!!! also slide and x850 pro in there and shove the whole box into a freezer!!! no heating problems then.....smoooooth as buttah!!!!

heres the best way to find out what the problem is..

go to the control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery settings.
untick the box which says "Automatically Restart". Next time it does it is won't reboot but will halt on a blue screen with an error message. Googling that error message ususally gives you an answer. Does sound like an overheat to me though..

run eventvwr.msc in start menu>run. look for warnings in the application and system sections.

Blue screen is usually a hardware failure and it could well be overheating like he said^^

I would try running the game as usual but with the side of the case open and a house fan blowing on it temporarily to see if you still get the blue screens.

used to have to do that on my old TBird 1.4... was the only way i could stop it from overheating, and it was stock.. they were so badly designed. In the end i had to clock it down to 1.2 permanently to get it stable

Its dont think its overheating because if i feel the case when im playing its cold not warm or hot. Or i could be completely wrong

There is a way to have Windows show your stop error.

Also, the case wouldn't be warm, the part maybe extremely hot causing it to shut down, causing the stop error. Google on how to get XP to show the stop error instead of re-booting right away.

Once you have your stop error, google the stop error to find the solution.

make sure nothing is overclocked, and reseating your ram. maybe slowing down your timings?
