ya, its down aparently. If I go to the site it says "document contains no data"

what kind of issues? gamespy issues perhaps? After all gamespy closed the stat feed down, I wouldnt imagine theyre too happy with the people going around it.

From what I read it sounded more like client-side, but it seems like his site is under way too much load now. Chances are pretty good that he won't be able to keep it going for 2 reasons.

1) EA is cracking down hard on stat servers right now
2) Not enough bandwith since people are running to whatever stat server is working at the moment

I think a windows update broke a PHP script accelerator i had installed on the machine, which meant i had to remove the accelerator or roll back the update. I really didnt feel like rolling back the update so i opted to remove the accelerator. Unfortunatly the accelerator was giving my site a 2-3x performance boost and without that boost i quickly hit my servers max. The windows update did include some security patches hence why i opted not to roll back.

I am 99% certain EA wont persue legal action against sites that are essentially helping to promoting the game and doing the community a service. They are afaik just blocking sites that are overloading the login/stats server, which is indeed a wise move. I've taken steps to reduce loads on EA's server to what i can only imagine is now a pewny amount when compared to all the thousands of gamers logging in every hour. It's not my intention to cause even a minor login problem and i am confident my scripts are writen well enough to not cause harm.

bf2s afaik is the only site blocked, and was executing 10-15K requests per hour.

I was reading on their forums that they spaced out the updating. Their servers are still getting hit pretty hard. Eithe way...still a great sig. Working well now!
