Random Freezation?

Alright, I have a fairly new computer, 3.2 Ghz 256mb nvidia geforce 6800 GT, everything's pretty new. For some reason the game decides to freeze randomly, in the middle of playing, for no reason whatsoever.

sometime I can get the ctrl alt delete screen up but I still don't want the damn game to freeze in the first place! I can't even finish a whole round for chrissake.

any suggestions? Common problem?

The game itself is quite buggy. I just reformatted my 2 drives and installed just BF2 and it ran great until I changed a few video settings from High to Med. just to see what the FPS change would be. Now I get random CtD's. How fun. When it freezes, how long have you let it sit for before hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delte?

a minute or two, the odd thing is for the most part when the ctrl/alt/del screen comes up it wont' let me click anything, I can tell the mouse is moving because the screen flickers just a bit when I do, but when I try to click something in the ctrl/alt/del box it doesn't let me select it, leadng me to believe that bf2 is still running or something.

You dont say how much ram you have? It could be that.

Got two gb of the fastest ram I could find, and it fixed it for $280.

Try the Nvidia 77.77 drivers, they solved my problems with crashes/lockups

Alright, I'll try the video drivers, I have a gig of RAM, i forget the type, but it's good stuff, my friend and I designed th ecomputer ourselves and he knows his stuff, so it's not ram.

Especially because this problem just started out of nowhere, for a while this game worked just fine, it's strange.

Mine used to freeze up as the RAM was overheating.....RAM coolers fixed that.......

A gig of ram may still not be enough if you are running your 6800GT on high settings. If the 77.77 drivers dont sort it im sure another 512 - 1024Mb of ram will sort it. I also have a gig of ram but I have my 6600GT set to medium graphics, so I get nice smooth gameplay. Try turning your graphics down to see if that make the situation any better.

No KB or Mouse response?

Ive noticed randomly that I also lose keyboard and mouse, but the game still goes on. BF2 will sometimes reset your keyboard layout. Double check your keyboard layout and you might notice that the bind keys are completely empty, if thats the case, either reset them to default or start customizing again.

A lot of people who "know their stuff" to some, don't actually "know their stuff".

I have built 3 computers and am constantly reading about new technologies coming to the computer world. Some of the stuff is insane.

oh I know it's insane, but we've built upwards of 20 thusfar, we started a small business with it (how do you think I afforded this rig and my games at 17, with a car, and "jobless") haha.

The 77.77 drivers fixed it perfectly, high resolution, no fps drops, boy is this game amazing.

(Also just got my first "first place" in a game, and then got a 2nd, and two thirds.)
