i think they should remove a "0" from all the time requirements for medals
first player to get a medal other than gold/silver/bronze/purple

Why complain about the time requirements?
I think this is a great move from EA; it rewards the totally devoted players who play hour after hour, day after day, year after year - and when they finally get a shiny new medal/rank, they've REALLY earned it.
It wouldn't be any fun if 10.000 people had the highest medals/ranks after a year, hell even after 2 or 3 years.
This system just increases the longevity of the game, and it's brilliant if you ask me :) I've played a game called Tactical Ops for almost 5 years now, more or less every single day. I'd love to get a reward for that, and be the only one who has that reward!Comment

Yeah but they could of been a little more realistic. I consider myself a devoted player but I worked out it will take me 3 years to get one medal. I think thats a little excessive. If they cut the requirements to half that would still reward the hardcore players but not be too out of reach for the people with lives :laugh:Originally posted by BerrernWhy complain about the time requirements?

I think those medals should have a consolation tag on them for having no social life whatsoever.
Or perhaps some new titles?
The Distinguished Medal of Introvertedness
The Congressional Medal of Boredom
The Parents' Basement Service Ribbon
The Carpal Tunnel Medal
The Presidential Medal of Loneliness
The Perennial Unemployment Service AwardComment

The reason they made it so hard is so you continue playing on ranked servers for which they get money. If they made it so you could get everything after 6 months, you wouldn't need to play on ranked servers anymore, and they wouldn't get more money. IMO a brilliant move, they don't hurt but still milk us. IF EA did this with every game instead of just buy out the competition, the gamesworld would be a lot better.
Anyway, there is reason to complain, fact is people like to get rewards. If EA wanted to make it purely for our enjoyment they would have made it a lot easier, it's fun to just play the game casually and in a couple months get a medal. They way it is now, is to reward harcore uberleet players who really dedicate themselfs. And as far as I know most people do not give a **** if millions of others have it. I'd rather have it iwth millions of others then not have it, while some 4 other uber harcore people have it. But it isn't there for our fun, it's there so EA gets more money. And if they made it easier a lot more people would go for them, as the way it is now, people simply won't even go for a lot of medals.Comment

But imo it will backfire because the non hardcore will just get pissed off and stop playing for an unatainable goal, that way there will be less players. Less players = less people willing to fork out for ranked servers.
Most of these medals/awards just seem really out of reach for 80% of the communityComment

Not sure we can accuse them of drug use yet, but very unrealistic. By the time the "somewhat agressive" player (2-3 hours a day average) gets to that point, BF2 will be outdated and something much better will have taken it's place. You will be able to find Bf2 at garage sales and Goodwill stores for $1.00, and the computer hardware that is needed to run it will be "so yesterday".Originally posted by jonnysanchezSo to give you an idea it would take ~12 months to get one of those 3000hour medals. a medal especially like the sharpshooter infan try medal, requires all the expert combat badges, which each require 1000 hours. multiply that by 9 which is 9000hours for one medal, which will take 3 years to get. were EA on drugs when they made these requirements or are they incorrect (ubar)Comment
i have all basic badges 13 ribbons and the same 4 stupid medals
