    Question about VOIP

I am trying to use my VOIP with my mic, but everytime I press "B" to talk to my squad, it lets me talk once, and then my mic gets muted. Whats wrong? Is it my mic? I tried to adjust the settings for the mic in the options section, but its the same thing everytime. It workes fine until I try to talk to my squad, and then it doesnt work anymore. Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Thanks.

Well, there is no HW/SW reason that I can think of that would make your microphone go dead after you used it just once.

Though extremely unlikely, the only thing that comes to mind is that maybe (again, very unlikely) after hearing you, everyone in your squad mutes you. :p

Edit: To add to that, I once muted a guy because all we got from his microphone was an annoying shrill. Have you ever tested your microphone offline (like, if all else fails, in Windows Recorder) to make sure it works?

Its not people that are muteing me, because when I go on the volume control thats on my desktop, it says the Mic is muted.

Try unmuting it...I know that sounds stupidly easy but try it. and if it still doesnt work...man I had this problem with just my mic a few years back...there is some box you have to check or uncheck somewhere in the sound controls...I would try going to Start/programs/accessories/entertainment/sound recorder and try recording your voice as a test. if you can hear it..then the game hates you if you can't...well then you know your computer hates you :p

I'm having this same problem. My mic icon will light up in the first few minutes of a game and then it doesn't work anymore and my friend online can no longer hear me. Anyone know how to fix this?

              Re: Question about VOIP

I'm guessing you're using AC97 onboard audio? I had the same problem. New drivers solved it.

I just did the dxdiag method and it works fine now.

Yep, seen this exactly with some onboard AC'97.

If the new drivers or the dxdiag tweak doesn't work, take the easy way out get yourself a new (or an old second hand) PCI sound card!

sry for the bump but i had this prob too, once i spoke once it would stop working, i checked my options and for some reason the game kept disabling voip and my transmit and recieve to 0% after i talked once, its some weird bug, i put sound accelaration at basic and it works but is there any other fix for it? i'd like to have sound acc at full
