lock up , and weird fax like sound? HELP!!!

I just built a new system, And when i load the game i get a lock up and a noise that sounds like a fax machine?????

msi k82 neo platinum
6800GT
Audigy 2
80 gig SATA

I can figure out what the prob could be , i have updated all driver more that once , not a heat issue..

Any help would be appreciated , Thanks

ya that is correct , i just had a p4 machin with no problems , would it be the Nforce chipset?

I have exact same problem.. Nforce4 audigy2 zs ... all latest drivers,, chipset.. raid...mobo... video... even creative SB drivers...I thought it was related to the sound as well.. read somewhere it was related to the SIL sata raid so updated the certified drivers for that as well now it locks up upon entering the game ... dont even get far enough for sounds ... but I had your problem befor updating the Nforce4 chipset and SIL raid drivers...that was when I could get into the game for about 10 min now I"m totally screwed.

Happened to me once before I updated to the latest OpenAL drivers.

Used PCI Latency to move my settings from 32 to 64 no luck .. total lockdown upon entering the multiplayer screen... it will start loading servers and then freeze the entier computer.. no ctrl alt del or alt tab nadda... power cycle is only option at that point.

TRY 800x600 rez 75hz refresh.. and see if it goes away ... my problems went away then... tried audio on max still ok ... aa x4 tripple filtering all ok.... until I go up in rez.
