isn't deviation bullet travel over time???
Not that it matters much imo, just shoot and play. If ya gotta calculate everything, takes away the fun tbh :|:

There is no real ballistics in this game period...
if you want the most realistic ballistics you play op flash, where if you fire a bullet from far enough away the guy doesnt even hear the sound of the gun fireing before he is dead.
and of course you have to adjust your scope since bullets drop over distance. Bf2 ballistics is an oxymoron, it simply does not exist.
as for deviation, that has to do with the spread of the bullet from where you aimed.... mostly to do with guns fireing multiple bullets at once. If you go for sniper rifles you have to deal with windage, elevation, distance, bullet drop, etc.

Originally posted by dmonkeyIs that actually in BF2? Or did you mean the windage, elevation, etc was in OFP?
the only game ever to take into account windage and all that was the original Swat game, that is the most realistic portrayal of sniping ever made in a video game.
Op flash is about half as complicated, but op flash allows you to do 95% of what snipers REALLY do. The hardest part about being a sniper is not pulling a trigger, any monkey can do that. Stalking , tracking, recon, and all the other things involved are the real crux of it.. and op flash allows you to do all of that... even with a laser range finder.
bf2 has no accurate portrayal of reality when it comes to snipers.... perhaps the only thing is what is called "urban sniping", since the maps are all small and have little rugged terrain. A friend of mine I play games with was a marine force recon in the 80s(yep... op flash is set in 1985, I remember a time he had a flashback when we were deep in the woods on a mission). Marine force recon, or LRRP, are basically the most highly trained commandos of anything america has. He was qualified in urban sniping, and he used a shotgun for it rofl. So really bf2 is not realistic, or accurate, in most anything... especially ballistics.

However even if there's no bullet travel time, there is an effective delay caused by lag. Unfortunately, that difference in lag is different for each target you fire at...

Well, OFP 2 sounds very good, I will have to check it out when it arrives. What disappointed me about sniping is that it doesn't really have a role in BF2, a spec ops can snipe and do much more.

Werd. They have to give Snipers a bigger role or make them more 'special' :POriginally posted by dmonkeyWell, OFP 2 sounds very good, I will have to check it out when it arrives. What disappointed me about sniping is that it doesn't really have a role in BF2, a spec ops can snipe and do much more.
In other words, make all semi/full automatic guns with scopes weaker!
