Does 1GB really make a difference?

I have 1GB of DDR 266. I am soon going to throw this slow stuff out and get 1GB of DDR 400 (2x512MB). I run the game fine with 1GB, "high" setting with 2xAA and dynamics on medium. I get ZERO lag, never ever :)

Can anyone advise me what sort of memory to get as I thought it had to be specific to you system but Snake can you just choose different DDR numbers is it the speed or what?

It depends on what cpu you have and what font side bus the cpu has. Snake is running PC2700 (DDR266 - 266Mhz) when his cpu can take PC3200 (DDR400 - 400Mhz - 800Mhz when in dual channel). Find out the maximum front side bus speed your cpu and mobo can handle and buy the appropriate ram

The ram and a fast hard drive rate as the top but the ram definitly #1. I have an old system and have to have the video settings low (but not all at the lowest) but my pc never hangs mid game and I am always the first or second person in the game. I don't have to load a ton of graphics (i assume) is one reason but the fast drive is another (Which means I am usually the first to die )

Ive got 4 DDR2 memory slots, I have 2x256, would i be able to put another gig into the 2 remaining slots (512x2) and have 1.5Gig total ram? or does it not work that way.

I have a Radeon X300 card and 512mb RAM, i put everything on high 2x AA when im using battlerecorder to get nice screenies, it runs at 2-15 fps, not bad at all for a cheap card and 512mb RAM. I run medium - low - off settings great, FPS usually never drops below 20 unless in the beginning of the game, even on an intense full 64 player server playing Karkland, everybody fighting for the first flag.

Not very knowledgeable on computers but I currently have an AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+ CPU and I'm not 100% but currently think I have DDR 2700 RAM. WAS looking at maybe getting one of these if it's compatible.

Not sure where else to look that does UK shipping and prices.

i run my BF2 on 2.53 GHz P4, ATI 9700 pro 128mb, and 512. and even though i should and will upgrade/buy a new computer, i have to say that im suprised how well it works with some tweaks.

However, I just bought a gig of ram...so I'll be running with 1.5. I'll let you know how the card runs with the ram.

I'd buy more ram...your computer isn't that bad. another 512 will run ya aroun 80 bucks canadian.
