Does anyone know if the new patch will make a player be able to change his name without loosing any points/badges/medals and so on.

I hope so. It should not be a huge code change since each user is known to the BF2 rank server databases by the user ID and not the name (I think). As long as the 8 digit number is consistant, it shouldn't be a big issue.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand players can change their nick anytime, lame a bit and get away with it without losing credit.

Buttttt if they do get caught doing something they shouldn't and EA locks (not saying EA does these kind of things) an account he/she needs create another one again

EA stated that they know the problem and they are working on it, so it might be in the patch.
