i downloaded the demo and installed it and when i click on it to play it my screen goes black and then it restarts my comp?

What type of computer do you have? Namely the videocard. You need a decent video card to play the game. I'd go with a ati 9600 or above. -

When does your screen go black? When you double click the icon on your desktop or when you enter a server? I dont have the demo but i'm thinking it works the same.
Just curious, how did you get 640mb of ram? I thought it was only 256, 512, or 1 gig? Sounds kinda strange. Did you upgrade your memory? A dell dimension only comes with 256 mb of RAM according to this website. You need at least 512mb of ram.
Did you upgrade your videocard too? The site also says you have intergrated graphics. Make sure you have the newest drivers if you upgraded your videocard.
Catalyst 5.6 or 5.7. I'm not sure which catalyst is right for your videocard because you have too much memory for an ATI 9250. And also make sure you run Driver Cleaner evertime u change drivers.

ok i have 640mb ram because 512+128= 640mb and it turns black when i click on the bf2 demo icon after installing and i havent updated my card with the latest drivers yet i think i just have the drivers that came on the cd that came with the vid card and a pentium 4 with 2.20 ghz and yes i did upgrade my ram and vid card. thanks everyone for trying to help i really appreciate u giving time to help me.Comment

His video card is not supported as it is a revision of the RV280 core.

Yes, update your drivers, see if that works. My only fear is you're running the PCI version of the card, in which case only 1 person that I know of has claimed to have gotten it working, and he hasn't posted any pictures to prove it, so I think he is yanking everyones chain.Comment
