Spawning with Squad problem!

I just started playing this game yesterday. When I join a squad I click on the number next to my leader's name then click done. I am then told I need to choose a spawn point! I thought it was possible to spawn with your squad leader? Help please!

On the map where you select a regular flag spawn point well on that map when you squad leader is alive you will see a green dot which you can select which spawn on which will spawn you right next to your squad leader but remember he has to be alive.
