    Extreme Lag?

OK here is my problem whenever i play bf 2 online no matter what the server i get an extreme lag of some kind. It is definately not hardware related as my game runs perfect in sp and even with settings on lowest on mp it still has this terrible lag. Its not a drop in fps either as my fps is always a steady 60 -90 fps. I have a definate feeling that this particular issue is network/punkbuster related. I have tried many things such as using pb_sleep 500 and manual updates and all to no avail. I also have done hardware updates, used latency tool, changed aperture size, updated every bloody driver possible on my comp, changed from 5.7 to 5.6 catalyst several times.

I play other games online and have never had any problems. I have also turned sounds to hardware and low, turned off voip and put my res right down and still it stutters frequently with no fps drop.

    My specs are as follows:

    P4 3 ghz 800fsb HT
    Asus p4p800S-X
    Radeon 9800 pro 128mb
    1024 hynix ddr 400 3200mhz RAM
    WD 80 gb Sata HD

I am trying on these settings:

All medium, 2 x AA, low Texture Filter, Dynamic Lights and shadows OFF, Lighting low, 1024x768 60hz res.

Please help me get this problem sorted.

    Thanks

i suppose that u have a laptop. change your resolution to 800x600 and change the quality to medium. everything medium and turn the anti aliasing off. everything should be just fine. i have a laptop as well and at 800x600 everything is just fine do this and everything should be all set.

hmm sounds like you have covered most angles I would suggest. One thing though, when you updated pb did you do it just once and did you use pbweb.exe???

Use pbsetup.exe instead http://websec.evenbalance.com/downlo...ws/pbsetup.exe (right click save target as) then choose Bf2 to add as your game, make sure the folder location is correct, then click update, watch to see if there is an update and that it updated, then for reference reasons join our server which is guaranteed lag free (Raging Rebels Ranked 1.02) just put raging in the filter. I'm sure its pb related as you should have no probs from what you have told us though you could turn AA off and lower res to 800x600

When i try to install that punkbuster setup.exe file it runs for a bit then comes up with a error and that it has to be closed. Then i open the program like it was normal. It has something to do with the Eula or something i think it said. Then when i add battlefield to the list it says pb not installed next to it? wtffff

                Help me ppl
                Here was the error report
                AppName: pbsetup.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: pbsetup.exe
                ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00012434

Have you got a firewall on or antivirus running in the background? Turn them off including windows firewall. What modem/router do you have and what internet connection.

RAM will make a difference to stuttering caused by the game hitting the swap file but it's unlikely to be that if you still get stuttering with everything on low. Textures are the biggest cause of this and should be set at low-medium for your setup.

Also try clearing out your cache in the My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache folder. Delete everything iside that cache folder. The game will then reoptimise all the shaders etc. You could also try a complete reinstall. You won't lose stats or anything.
