Mine will just stand over my shoulder or sit on the edge of my bed and spout off some of the most useless crap I've ever heard in my life. It doesn't help that I'm usually pumped up like FPS Doug when I'm playing, either. Luckily she gets home 2 hours later than I do, so I have enough time to get my daily BF2 fix in anyway. Saturdays and Sundays are a different story all together. Once she dozes off into a nap, I tip-toe to my computer room and fire it up. Once she says the spending time thing I can safely say, "You were sleeping anyway, go back to sleep."

She doesn't think playing the game is very nerdy, but once I log off and check the message boards I certainly hear it.

My wife and I are at a constant stalemate over playing time. Im a night owl shes in bed by 10:00PM she nags if I tell her Im going to play earlier in the evening and when she goes to bed shes pissed that I fire up the computer "YOUR FRICKING SLEEPING AND PISSED AT ME!!" its a tuff go right now. Shes insanely jealous of the computer because I spend some time (maybe 8 hrs a week) online but when I spend time with her she doesnt know what she wants to do. I keep reminding her that before we were married she knew I was a major gamer back to PONG and she never had a problem when I would be playing games and she would be on the couch reading or watching a movie. Its a tuff go, guerilla gaming I play 15 min here 15 there just to get my fix to the weekend...horrible......

I get this all the time. My answer is always: "Yes, I do love my computer more than you. You knew this when you married me." This is always followed by a swift slap to the back of my head, letting me know that it's time to stop playing.

This is soo cool and funny to read. It's good to know that there are fellow nerds trying to find the perfect balance between home life and nerd life.
I'm 30 with a full time job, girlfriend and a new born daughter, my girlfriend is perfect she knows i like gaming and i play on week days after work, and then when the weekends come along we do stuff together etc etc. But now we have our baby daughter it is less difficult to stop playing BF2 coz it's great playing with our little angel.

Anyway, good to see there are other couples out there.....

              battle on brothers...

My girl used to whine and guilt me in to getting away from the PC. Now, we've actually worked out an agreement where on Tues., Thurs, and Sunday nights we spend apart from eachother. Gametime, baby. Although most of the time she can't stick to her own plan, and wants to be togther. :/

BTW, I only play a few hours a week, and my GF has the expectation that I'm going to spend some time gaming or web designing or whatever. We've spent a year together, and I think she's starting to come to terms with it. :)

I've gotten Liz to admit that she's glad that I have this as a hobby since she knows that when I'm not with her she knows where I'm at and what I'm doing...or does she... :drevil:

Wife does her own thing, I do mine.
When I was putting in the 7+hours (prior to becoming a Corporal) a day thing it was bothering her slightly.

I have an agreement with my wife. As long my houses chores are done, she let me play. I also have to be totally present for her the friday evening, the saturday during 'till 11 pm and sunday 'till 6 pm. The rest of the time she let me play as long i wish. Of course, once in a while i have to give her special attention (no pun intend ), but its a small price to pay for the freedom she give me. And it have worked well for the last 4 years, so i really cant complain.

My GF likes to do her own thing so my BF2 time is perfect for her. However, if she needs to use the comp or wants to do something, all she has to do is ask and I will say "let me finish this round." She has actually gotten pretty good at predicting how long a round will take by looking at the tickets left and the number of players. :)

My wife does a two prong assault which over the years (2 ) she has perfected. First she starts to whine, but i play with nice headphones so i can hear her, so then if that doesnt work she pulls out the big guns.. she sits on my lap! or hangs her hair over my face.. and she has incredable timing, it will always be when i'm flying my BH full of squad mates and she makes me crash! sometimes i get TK punish kicked and then she just laugh's... goood lord!

But i love her so i normally get and then spend time with her, which is mostly waiting for her to get ready then the rest of the night waiting for her to decide where she wants to go.... if i'm being a but i just keep responding are you sure to each of her suggestions and it drives her nuts because she cant make up her mind bwahaha!

But we have worked out that i get to play right after i get back from work for 2-3 hours if i wish and then on weekends i can play for as long as she sleeps (i get up at the crack of dawn!) which sometimes turn's into 10-12 hours computer fest's!

I think we need this to become a sticky support group thread...
