This would solve the clan tag problem

An in game clan system, where by the clan leader sets the paticular clan tag for e.g. [EA] and whoever joined the clan will have a tag there. e.g. [EA]AreFaggots

So when AreFaggots left the clan, he'll be just AreFaggots.

But when he join another clan, for e.g [DICE], he'll have [DICE]AreFaggots as a full nick. isn't this plan more wonderful.

better than a whole new nick change system that may be exploited to prevent reputation tarnishes etc. (like stat padding and ppl know u stat pads. etc and no respect. and its easier to track ppl on EA's side)

    abc123 stats pads

    community: eww i hate abc123

abc123: oh noes ppl hates me.

    abc123 changes nick to iasdjhf1357

community: oh wow iasdjhf1357 is a legit 1337 player. respect!

well you guys got my idea.

Except that can easily be done by making a new account, so this doesn't prevent that at all.

Also, Tribes 2 had a clan system in it that I absolutely LOVED. You could make a clan on there, and assign certain levels of power to clan members. You had a clan name, and a clan tag that was either added to the beginning or end of clan member's names. Also, the clan tag appeared with a slightly different color than the nickname in game.

actually my main focus is on the clan tag. no hassle on the player part.

There is no clan tag problem really, there is only people that want to carry their stats over from once account to the other. The reason why I say there is not a clan tag problem is that there are no ladders in the EU or US that are playing matches with unlocks on, so it makes no difference if you are ranked or not. Ranking and weapons unlocks are for public use, not during clan matches.

well the game was billed as being 'clan friendly' so there is a 'clan tag problem.'

most of our guys that didn't set up [STK]-xxxxxx accounts have went and set up a 2nd account with the tag on...as mentioned previously, wars will be played sans unlocks, so a 2nd acct for wars only works... The only pain is not being able to wear the tag in pub play without having to use that acct and ditch whatever unlocks/points you have acquired with your original acct.

I have had a member use gamespyid.com to change his ID, but its not a complete change. He was able to change his nick, add the tag, and in BFHQ in-game it shows up. However, when he joins a server, its his old name....UGH!

Thanks EA/DICE for being so 'clan friendly'.

My question pertaining to clans is this: Can't any dumbass just put the tag infront of their name and say they're in your clan. How do you keep any old kid from just putting the tag in his name without actually asking to join?

i think u mean someone would create a name with the clan tag already in?

that will see how EA handle it. if i were them, i would disable any clantags already in service. meaning if [EA] clan is activated, no [EA]nick would be created. or anything with [EA] infront. that would mean someone create A and no one else would. so..

a special char in the tag that is clan only [+EA+] for e.g. that'll be troublesome and stuff but.. oh well. can't have the best of everything.

there's nothing stopping them from doing that....

but of course, I could change a letter, use an 0 instead of an O, and create an acct. exactly like yours..... I don't see tagged aliasers being much of an issue, with them having to create new accts. etc... I've seen it in games where its easier to change name (CS:S, TO, etc..), but if its on our server, well, they earn a nice ban :). If its on a server I'm not adminning, usually you can get ahold of an admin to get him to change his name/etc..
