  • Resolution Question

Hey, I've just been messing around with my resolution (not in game on desktop) and I went from 1024 by 768 too 1280 by 1024, I felt that the icons were way to small so I went back to 1024 by 768 and everything was really blocky and way to big >_< and I felt like I had to go back. So I went to 1152 by 864 and everything looks pretty nice but I had to adjust the screen to get it in the middle, (so there are no black margins one side while the other sides not visible).

I was just wondering if you could clear something up for me, it would be much appreciated.

    1) Why are there so many different combinations? There is 1280 by 720, 768, 960, and 1024. But only one 1152 by 864. Which one do I need? (I've got a 17" flat screen TFT monitor, its not widescreen or anything fancy).

    2) Would BF2 look any better with a higher resolution than 1024 by 768 (which is what mines at now)? If so will it make the performance decrease?

As a rule of thumb the higher your resoolution, the more work your processor and gfx card has to do but it looks much better.
1024×768 seems to be the standard that most people use for gaming in general but most LCD and TFT screens have a native resolution of 1280×1024

Hmm, how can i get my game to go to 1280 x 1024?

In my game video settings theres only 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864 and 1280x960 at different Hz settins, normally 60-75Hz.

I tired 1280x960 and half of the game wouldnt fit on the screen horizontally.
I then tired 1152x864 at 75Hz and it worked and everything fit, but when i died the screen went black and buzzed for a few seconds and then some nice green colours came on, (I'll put a screenshot of it in). :-\ Could this be something to do with the Hz thing? Before I had 1024x768 at 60Hz. Whats Hz do and how do I get 1280 x 1024?
