Custom Maps on Ranked Servers?

I'm not an admin for any bf2 server, but I was wondering, is there the possibility of running custom maps on ranked servers?

The official maps can sometimes be dull and boring, and I'd like to see some more diversity. I think that there should be more maps like Strike At Karkand, which forces ground fighting.

Also, is EA planning to release another official map pack for bf2?

There is a data disk being released (in Oct? - Not sure when) which will have 2 new armies (SAS & Russian) and 7/8 new maps :)

In order to run new maps you have to have ftp access which you're *not supposed* to have if you've rented a ranked server. Doesn't mean that some won't do it anyhow though.

Not sure about ranked, but i managed to get a map running on my dedicated server.

i thought dedicated boxes were unable to run them, some dodgy code or something but is one of the fixes for 1.03???

Ranked servers run custom maps no problem and I don't think theer's a fix coming out for this. The fix would be for EA to break their contact with the game host for having given ftp access to the people paying for the server.

The maps vary all the time. The only way I've found to fine out is to use All Seeing Eye to track the map changes.
