Help!!frustrating minimise

Somebody please help... my bf2 used to work fine and then one day it just decide to continue to minimise itself, i havnt changed any settings in the game or my comp n yet its just started doin it outa the blue... even when im in the menu itll do it, and its ruin my stats lol cos when i open it back up im usually already dead... help!!

Might I recommend the built-in spell checker for your future posts?

Second of all, it sounds like spy/adware might be conflicting with the game, or perhaps it is anti-virus. You need do an anti-virus scan, and also an anti-spyware scan as well. If it continues to minimize then turn off your anti-virus and make sure your firewall is set to allow BF2 to play though.

I assume you installed the v1.02 patch?

Yea i have 1.02 patch i ran adaware and cleanup and deleted some stuff, n ran my anti-virus and found nothing, i also tried turning of my firewall and everything but its still doing it

I'm having the same problem. I have an ati 9800 pro and am running the latest catalyst drivers (5.9). I've tried everything short of reinstalling the original game. The game will minimize itself to the task bar. I have left the game up, left the room fo an hour or so and when I come back its minimized. This morning I reinstalled 1.02, but haven had a chance to test that out yet. One last note, the game did not always do this, but I can't recall the time frame when it started to ocurr.

any suggestions?

One of my first thoughts is that perhaps you are hitting a certian key combination causing another program to try and steal Windows Focus. Or perhaps Windows Sticky Keys is enabled in which hitting the Shift key 5 times will cause the screen to minimize.

Uncheck Sticky Keys in WIndows under COntrol Panel/Accessibility Options.

Well, I'll check, but please notice in my post that I can leave the game up and running, LEAVE, the room, and when I return the game has minimized itself, all by itself. I can leave it running at the menu screen and it minimizes itself also.

Hmm, you're right about leaving it alone. It seems like another program is attempting to steal the window focus and only making it half way.

I know I originally had trouble (with another game) because my keyboard drivers felt the need to contact the internet every so often to check for updates and to use the enhanced key functions. When it tried that, it would steal focus but not launch any apps or process that weren't already running, making it hard to figure out at first.

Perhaps your Windows Event Log will tell you something?

I had an issue similar to this where I was using dual monitors and tried to run a system monitor in the second window (Winbar2). Turns out it was this app that was interfering and kept minimizing BF2.

Perhaps your Windows Event Log will tell you something?

I started up a local server, jumped into a jet and within 2-3 minutes the game minimized. Nothing showed up in the event logs.

I am beginning to think this is an ATI driver problem.

OK,
I think I may have figured it out. More testing will prove this out, but I actually believe that my antivirus (MCafee) is causing the minimizing to desktop. This program checks for updates every 4 hours, and if it can't connect to the internet it keeps trying at 15 minute intervals. Lat night I disabled the program and BF2 didn't minimize once. Tonight I'll try just disabling its auto update. What this doesn't expalin so far is that this didn't start happening to me until about 4-6 weeks ago. So it was either the 1.02 BF patch, the updated catalyst drivers, or an update to Mcafee. Impossible to tell.

McAfee will do that. I don't get a minimize, but I do get the McAfee popup window trying to break in ontop of BF2 after an update. I just disable McAfee while playing.

well i have pc-cillin and my update is set to 6hr and i have the same problem i also run dual screen one on my radeon 9800pro AIW and one on a radeon 7200 pci

no i am sure i didnt as like another said it happens even when i let the game idle and i am away from the desk so far i have reinstalled my driver many time using driver cleaner in safe mode and i have tryed the following:
ati 5.6-5.7-5.8-5.8
ngo 5.8-5.9
omega 5.8-5.9
i also ran trend micro online anti-virus and kapersky online antivirus and i have pc-cillin installed on my computer
i have also ran spybot S&D and trend micro online spyware scan
and it all came clear
so i dont know.....i am lost now ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

ah and i have running in the back ground ..well in the tray sound panel for my card ,Xfire gaming chat software ,Deamon tool ,Ati tray tool ,hp printer panel and thats it

system is as follow
Athlon XP2100@2400 (as been like that since i bought and the cpu is water cooled temp rarely reach 40c)
mobo Asus a7n8x rev1.04
Radeon 9800pro AIW 128mb
Radeon 7200 pci 32mb
1.5gig pc3200 with optimal timing not aggressive one
3hdd 1x40 ,1x120 ,1x160
1 plextor cd burner
Windows xp pro with sp2 and all recent update

Ahh, I bet if you removed that additional PCI video card and it's associated apps, your problem would disappear. Just a hunch but a good hunch. :nod:
