Satellite and UAV RUINS some aspects of play, so:

    Two things:

1: Snipers and Spec. Forces should NOT show up on either when they are prone. Period. Maybe not ever at all.

And something should be done about the maximum zoom level images the commander can see... OMG that's practically a cheat...

And NO ONE should show up INSIDE OF BUILDINGS!! (I tested this and think I could detect people inside of buildings... maybe I'm wrong.)

    2:
There should be an option for a server to have COMMANDERLESS play...

There's just WAY too MUCH battlefield intelligence available...

I feel the same way about Jets :p I think they ruin every map they are available on. The not showing up while prone is a neat idea. I think to take that one step further is that they should not show up as long as they are stationary and prone. If they are crawling, then they show up.

Yeah, they show up as a blip when in a building and as long as the blip is visible they show, but once the blip timer has expired, they no longer show and you cant so an accurate Spotted.

like some cheese with that whine ? seriously im fed up of people trying to ruin this game with stupid suggestions/ideas. The game is fine as it is. I can tell you now the only reason snipers show up to me when im commanding is frequently during a game i will spot infantry using the scan whilst uav is down/out of action. If i do a scan 6/7 times and your a sniper whos been there all the while ive been scanning 6/7 times then dam right im gonna spot you. People who stay still during the game stick out like a sore thumb. Its not the commanders fault you snipers suck and stay in one place all the time. Learn to play the game then come back with a better post as to how commander role could be improved but by all means continue sucking ok just dont mind me if i drop artillery on your sorry sniper a**

The air assets are too powerful I agree- I think they should be more fragile than they are... depend on better piloting skills, that would keep the noobs out of em....

but that damned IN THE BUILDING thing bugs the HECK out of me... and I've played as a commander a bit who has faced SpecFor doing major damage to my assets- I still felt like it was cheating to know exactly where the was at all times...

That perfect view should only exist WITHIN UAV range if at all!

I'm pretty sure those features work like that to keep the "I'm going to sit in this one spot and snipe people ALL GAME" mentality down... This way if you do that, someone will eventually point you out and have you killed... So you're forced to think tactically more and maybe think more about how you can contribute to your team rather than just your kill count...

The not showing up at certain times is actually not a bad idea at all... I think specops only should have this ability.. and only if they have, say, their knife out... So that it's truly only for sneaking around... They become visible with a gun or c4 out, so you can catch them when they expose themselves to kill somone or blow something up...

WOw, you're a dumb ass. Want some panties with that "*****?"

A sniper is SUPPOSED TO STAY STILL until spotted legitimately!

The only thing I really agree with that I've seen on this thread is not seeing people in buildings with UAV. You certainly shouldn't be able to see people in buildings.

This part I disagree with. Thinking tactically means that people facing a sniper (and I am not a sniper but a victim usually) need to THINK about how to take him out and work toward that end. Snipers aren't much of a threat, especially once their general location is propogated through team *communication*. Taking one out is easy, once you decide to do it... having these instantly built-in cheats to ALWAYS know where one is (and any commander worth 2 cents knows all the likely spots on every map so a red dot there ONCE is enough to zoom in one him and SEE him at max zoom).

And a sniper IS contributing by staying put and tying up assets/resources of the other team to flush him out... A snipers job is rarely to actually kill people and thus make a difference, but to kill certain people and then that level of threat scares the beejeebus out of a unit and they get tied down- immobile until the sniper is located and neutralized or tied up locating- taking him out. This doesn't happen in the game and can't happen... which is a loss.

lmao  what do you classify as spotted legitimately ? sorry if i sounded harsh but like someone said above you perhaps think EA did it on purpose to stop people camping with sniper rifle ? BF2 is not like bf1942 as BF2 is more focused around infantry combat. I dont call a sniper sitting far away with a sniper rifle someone actively engaged in combat. Now a good sniper (and i know some do exist on the forums as even they have stated they dont stay still) is to move around constantly. Those guys are actively taking part in the combat moving between positions , looking at the next flag which needs to be capped etc. Sorry if you stay still then when do you expect ? or is it too much to ask people to put their brains in gear when they play ? come on think about it. Heck try commanding yourself and you will see exactly what i am talking about. An active commander frequently scans the bf for dangers. If your in 1 spot for 5/10 mins even less than that you will be spotted.

Sorry but this aint bf1942 any more.

First of all: spec ops never show up on scan/UAV.

second of all, for some reason it seems that UAV scans are not perfect. i have seen sometime people showing up for one pass, then disappear, then appear again, withough anyone going close to eventually revive the guy.

Thirdly, there is a way to play without the commander. its called AAS. if you type AAS in the server browser, you get a few servers with that (server-side) mod on. what it does i the folowing: 1 remove commander; 2 tie the flags in a certain order, so you cant cap 2 without already having 1, and cant cap 3 without having 2.

One last thing: there is not too much battlefield info available. that is because you get a good commander that uses its assets well. if you get a bad commander once, wich use only commander to use arty and for his own personnal abilities, you will notice that you will have waaaaaaaay less info. and, in fact, the real-life militaries wich are relatively high-tech (US, western world countries in general) get that much info with recon planes, UAVs, recon units wich job is to provide info, and many other ways to have more intelligence.

Wrong. I see them on my scan and UAV when I am commander. I even see their little c4 packs when they throw them and I'm maxzoomed...

                      2:
This needs exploring... maybe there's something to this.

                      3:
THANK YOU! This is excellent to know.

                      4:
I spoke from the point of view of a commander... not as a squadie, should have said that. As a commander I have so much information it feels like cheating. I want snipers and specops to be harder to spot when *I* am the commander. I want my ment to freak out when they encounter one and have my assets tied up due to them and not be much assitence to them until they clear the area themselves and inform me. That would be a lto more thrilling than: Poor sniper, all that work crawling to get there and I watched him the whooooooole way... even knew the sniper spot he'd pick out. Shelled his sorry ass. (Repeat, rinse ad nausem).

Yes in a way I wish there was no Commander slot. It would be a more fair round if you didn't get art'd but in real life there are no rules either soooooo... PLAY ON!

Just a few points against your argument.

                            1. Why shouldn't Spec Ops and Sniper show up with a scan ? They are just specialized soldiers and don't have a magical cloak of invisibility. I can see them just fine when I'm fighting them face to face so why make them invincible and invisible ?
The close up zoom works as it should and is in no way a cheat. It's available to BOTH commanders, not just the enemy and would represent satellite data relayed to a commander for information purposes. We're talking about the modern battlefield here, not BF1942, where modern technology assists in the information process more than ever before. The close up scan should be linked to the availability of the satellite trailer though. If it's up and running the commander should be able to zoom in, If not and it's been destroyed then the zoom function should be disbled temporarily.

                            2. Modern technology is here to stay and provides valuable data to commanders even in real life battle situations which is of course emulated with BF2 via the satellite scan and UAV functions. You don't like it or want it, go and play BF1942 where it's not a problem.
This is modern warfare buster, not WWI or II.
