lol, your the funny one. At least he is trying to make some money on an easy, and fun idea. Your comment is just well, STUPID!Originally posted by Fatmanlooks like a long boring scrap book that tries to make a part of a GAME seem like its more than it is, by throwing a whole bunch of dorky intellectual concepts together (which is mostly all common sense anyway) and calling it guide.Comment

Fancy words like . . .he simply just put it in his own words and made it look and sound fancy.
"The definitive guide to playing the commander role in Battlefield 2"
"DOMINATE THE BATTLEFIELD! "
"Learn what it takes to be the ultimate commander."
personally I avoid everthing that has the 'ultimate' word.Comment

And this is different from any other book because? That's all almost any book nowadays is.Originally posted by Fatmanhes trying to sell information thats either already available, or common sense. he simply just put it in his own words and made it look and sound fancy.
I don't agree with the price, but you've got to hand it to him for actually having it made into a book. Any fool can write a book, but it takes some doing to actually get it printed. I don't see any of you with printed works

I find it hard to believe that you could stretch the BF2 commander role over 96 pages unless you used a very large font, or had a LOT of pictures.
I would also like to know if he is intending on paying royalties or even respects for any ideas that were not solely his own, but found on free to read boards.
Furthermore, I sincerely doubt that this has any new observations, not to be found on said boards, within its pages.
What I expect it to be is a collection of this material, reworked, and in one place. I honestly can't imagine it being a big seller, but it takes all kinds, I suppose.
Lastly, when you apply this kind of hard work to what is in fact a pastime, you tend to take the fun out of it. It's similar to the difference between talking to your friends about films, and doing it for a living, or studying film theory at University. After that, it's really hard to enjoy a decent Schwartzenegger actioner or talk about it with your friends on the level you used to, and IMO, it's not worth the trade off for a non serious game.
ps. Shouldn't those interested be better off waiting for the next (revised) edition to come out after the august patch?

Hey all! This is the author here. I came back to this thread just to see what people were discussing and I was surprised. I've been called names by some and made to look like some kind of rip-off artist by others; all by people who haven't even read the book. Luckily there are some people who, even though they are not interested in the book, are willing to be courteous.Originally posted by KleinzeitI find it hard to believe that you could stretch the BF2 commander role over 96 pages unless you used a very large font, or had a LOT of pictures.

As far as what's in the book, let me say this. There is not one picture in the book. And as far as what the book does contain: some people in this thread have questioned its content. I did not take information from bulletin boards and rehash it into a 96 page book. You've seen the samples I gave. Have you ever seen someone talk about transformational leadership on a bulletin board in reference to the commander? This alone shows that I did not "steal" information and rehash it.
Certainly there are concepts in the book that have been discussed in bulletin boards and elsewhere. But this is not a manual on playing commander. There is no "click here and then click there" kind of stuff in this book. The name of the book says it all, "Commander Theory". You will never get this kind of information from one of the so-called guides that are put out by popular publishers.
That said, here is my suggestion: If the commander role interests you and you want to learn more about how to play the role and get your teammates to perform better and more as a team, then consider buying the book and enjoy it for what it is. If not, then move on to other things and enjoy the game however you choose. Have fun and maybe I'll see you on the digital battlefield someday...

I actually don't give a rat's ring one way or the other, but saw that the debate was flagging and decided to stir things up a tad. Yanks who write books like this are always a bit amusing for a while anyway.
I'd be sceptical about notions like transformational leadership being germane to a game like BF2, as it's kind of hard to take a personal interest in the lives of randoms from pub servers, but what the hey.
Is there a chapter on the advisability of abstaining from ejaculation a while before commanding in BF2, so you are in a more tantrically pure state and thus in a position to enjoy it more as well as being more effective? There should be space for that in 96 pages, surely.
nb: In the second edition, I expect that back cover to be plastered with testimonials:
Lcpl Chubz: "This book changed my life ( I'm having the author's babies), it can change yours too."
Dmonkey: " My marriage was failing until I read about tantric commander techniques in this book."
Anthony Robbins: "A manual for the times we live in".
Deepak Chopra: "That review copy he sent me was good if you melted cheese over it".
I think it's nice though, that you get to refer to yourself as "the author", now. Must give you a warm feeling.
May god bless it and all who sail in it.Comment
