Finally found solution for FREEZE and LOCKUPS

Finally afther 3 days i found the solution guys
Its the punkbuster what gives the troubles for us
What you have to try is set your agp to 4x in bios and in vga menu
Then go in battlefiels 2 and login
Afther you loged in and updated your serverlist DISABLE punkbuster in your menu and the one left from your gamespylogo
Update serverlist en refresh one more time then choose a punkbuster server game
It will say No punkbuster or sommething
Then ENABLE your punkbuster again and update and refresh one more time
Then choose a server and play Have fun

I don't see how changing the AGP to 4X will have anything to do with punkbuster...

Your videocard can't handle AGP8x, LOCKUPS AND FREEZES are due to a high temperature in your video card. Reducing it to 4x would help the heat problem. Punkbuster has nothing to do with it...

Ok it got nothing todo with punkbuster but it where the thing (last) i dit totday and afther these it worked and 0 zero nula lockups so dont complain help is what i give

Far from it man, the LOCKUPS and FREEZES aren't due to the high temperature of the video card.. EA has told everyone that their **** is messed up, so if there is like an auto record demo or something of that sort it's going to lag, it'll fix after next patch.

EA told me it was PUNKBUSTER. I have been getting the same crashes to blue screen then reboot. Nothing fixes it. Something must be with the PB that when you change something major it confuses it a while but it will come back eventually. You might play all day,then bang, hello again!

BUT ITS NOT HEAT, ITS NOT THE RAM, ITS NOT THE MB DRIVERS, it might be NVIDIAS/ATI drivers, but most likely PUNKBUSTER. ONLY PUNKBUSTER/BF2. Why else would an EA tech say its PB, play a non PB server and you won't have any problems?

I dunno about anyone else, but I have never seen a non PB server on BF2. Every single one requires me to enable it.

I've played reboot free on non PB servers before, then had my PC crash and reboot while trying to get in a PB enabled server so I think something is wrong with PB and BF2. I hope they get it fixed soon.
It's hard to find a non PB server now, I looked last night with no luck...

I tryd everything for the last 3 days on a friends computer and nothing worked afther 5 sec in game lockups freeze and hang
Then i disabled punkbuster and enabled it again how i discribed above
Started the game and smooth running now

I have had blue screen crashes that were identical (code wise) to ones I had with Raven Shield. For the first month I owned BF2 I had no problems. Then when Even Balance pushed out an update on 20th of July I have had system blue screen crashes immediately at spawn. Every time. My trick was to load the original PB files from a copy I kept and let PB update the files during game play then I would have no problems until I ended the game and restarted, for whatever reason, then bang, blue screen crash and loud squeal from the speakers, along with fault codes. Reload original PB files and no problem.

I tried a many fixes, but what ended up fixing the problem (next to playing on non-PB/Not ranked servers) was to disable my RAID controller in bios. This required I move the game from that drive/drive's to a normal EIDE drive. No crashing anymore. But the verify takes forrrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvveeeerrrr.

I have had but a few random crashes since but I think those may be tied to PB and an external Segate 120B hard drive.

I have had this game since the day it went on sale. Always installed on this RAID drive with zero problems till July 20th. I have changed no other hardware besides the video card and sound care. But both sound card and the video card change were in troubleshooting my crashing problem and upgrades.

It is a PB problem for my system. No comment from Even Balance as of yet.

BTW all my drivers are the newest WHQL certified drivers that exist.

My question is why does PB have to scrub your hardware so hard. Are they selling gamers system configurations to game builders. A little side money. This should not have to happen to find known cheats.
