    time of day changes

what would be nice (if not extremely graphically intensive) would be to have a change of time of day and weather. imagine playing on karkand and the sun starts to set and it starts to drizzle a little -- break out the night vision goggles --- i wish

maybe this will come into a mod, but I think you rather will have something like :

or you play normal, or you play in dusk or dawn, not starting in daylight and the weather / time is changing , would be realy intensive for your pc

Not really, all they have to do is change the direction of the light source.

it's not changing the direction of lightsource only, when going into dusk you have less light and some things would have to be rendered differently , look at operation clean sweep, totaly diferent enviroment of a day map, your pc should like have to load a new moment.

And just making less light by adjusting the gamma and brightness will mess up the map, by by textures because everything will just be black and grey.
Making an evening map needs more than you think, it's not just putting the lights out. and making this dynamic is total hard stuf, the BF2 engine hasn't forseen this and is demanding a lot from your system as it is now

Yeah, as mentioned before, Joint Ops has continuous time of day, and it really helps keep the maps from getting stale. The same map at daytime, dusk, and night is like a totally different experience. Very cool. I'm already getting bored of the 12 BF2 maps...

Hmm. Yeah I guess you are right. But don't current video cards support differnet colored lighting? If so you should be able to change the light source and hue right?

The cool thing about JO TOD is that it is server-based and persists across the map rotation.

Really for anyone who has not seen the TOD feature from Joint Operations it really was amazing. Joint Operations no doubt had plenty of issues but this was no doubt one of the best things the game had to offer. The feature added so much life to maps as really you got to two maps out of one in that you had day and night. Another really cool but annoying thing was playing against the sun. It would blind you as you were advancing but did add a ton to make the enviroment feel a bit more real.

With Battlefield 2 I can honestly say my only large complaint is that this feature did not make it's way into the coding. Hopefully in time more companies will use the idea and expand on it. Novalogic made a lot of mistakes but on this one Mr. French one of their former coders did it right.

its not too hard. I play a racing game called GTR, where you can race the 24 hrs at lemans. so yeah, you go thru day/ night changes, and also, racing games have long been doing dynamic weather
