    Re formatting my HD?

    Hey all,

Ok I wanna know how to re format my Hardrive and re install XP properly.
    Iv got like 2 problems,
1 is when I click my format on my HD it has a bunch of option but I dont know which to choose, I have a crumy Maxtor 60GB HD.

2 is I cant find my original XP cd which is home edition, now Iv looked EVERYWHERE and Im just counting it as lost.
My friend has a cope of XP pro though, I wanna know if its ok to use my XP home license key (the sticker on my pc) with his copy of XP pro?

    Thanks all help apreciated

Yea thats ok if you use your own license, and you got to format from the cd, put the CD in and then boot the CD up instead of windows (If you aren't already doing that).

There are alot of programs out there that'll format your HD for you. As a matter of fact Maxtor makes one for their HD's. The simplest thing to do is place the XP installation CD in the drive, reboot, and make sure you boot from CD. Then follow the directions on-screen. It's quite simple. I can't verify whether or not the Home key will work on a Pro CD.

I might also suggest making a small Partition to keep your essential drivers etc on for future Formats.
