If you have any complaint, read this

Alrighty, then. It appears that we have one or two upset people in the community. /sarcasm

If you are having difficulties with the actual gameplay aspect, not the software itself, then read this. By gameplay, I mean that you find that vehicle X performs terrible for role Y, or that kit A doesn't perform as well as kit B at role C. You get the incomprehensible idea...

    "This vehicle sucks"

Chances are you aren't using it for what it was designed for. Lets make a quick break down in rock-paper-scissors style.
    • APC - great against infantry, jeeps, boats, and turrets; equal against helos and other APCs; bad against tanks, helos and jets.
    • Jeeps - great against infantry, jeeps, boats, and turrets; equal against helos; bad against heavy vehicles and jets
    • Tanks - great against anything, if you can hit it; bad against aircraft, AT, mines, and C4
    • Boats - forget it... everything kills these. They are mostly a threat to jellyfish.
    • Turrets - TOWs are for armor and any helo dumb enough to hover; Stingers/IGLA work 99% of the time a lock is on a helo, but suck rancid goat nuts against jets; MGs are for infantry, jeeps, and helos; anything can kill a turret
    • Antiair armor - great against any kind of aircraft (except bombers on attack vector); ok against infantry, jeeps, and APCs that are oblivious to what is shooting them; terrible against tanks and any form of anti-armor munitions
    • Heavy helos - works like an APC (read that how you like); anti-air armor and jets eat these for breakfast, lunch, and a pre-dinner snack.
    • Attack helos - fantastic against slow armor, parked aircraft, and any infantry dumb enough to try and shoot it down with bullets; ok against moving infantry and other helos; terrible against anti-air and jets.
    • Bombers - great against all ground targets and helos; ok against other jets; terrible against anti-air armor and any jet that manages to get on your six
    • Fighters - terrific at air superiority; ok against ground targets; bad news if someone gets on your six

    "This kit blows"
USE YOUR FRIGGIN KIT AS IT IS DESCRIBED.
I can't put it any simpler than that. Wait... maybe I can:
    • Sniper - You are a lone wolf who shoots from a distance, moves on his own, and covers his tracks with claymores
    • Assault - You knock on the door to see if anyone's home... then proceed to blow his head off. With your added armor and grenade launcher, you are the spearhead of your squad's attack. (Note the mention of the word "squad".)
    • Support - Sorry, but don't let the big gun fool you. You are for suppressive fire and refitting everyone with ammo. Other than that, you make a fantastic decoy.
    • Special Forces - The demolitions expert. You can use C4 to blow up pretty much anything. This is critical for taking out bridges and enemy assets. You can set traps and sabotage enemy advances. Problem is you only have 5 satchels at a time.
    • Engineer - Your shotgun is great at close quarters, and your mines are fantastic at vehicle choke points. Problem is that any form of a retard on your team seems to home in on your mines and already has his drool cup parked on the "Page Up" key. You are critical in the repair of team assets, vehicles, and bridges.
    • Medic - Aside from a decent combat weapon, your med packs heal the wounded, and your shock paddles can revive fallen comrades and fall revived enemies (well, actually any enemy infantry). Each squad should have a medic if it's going to be half the man I am...
    • Antitank - You get rockets. What more is there to say? Use them to wear down enemy armor, pick off enemies in the open, and take down those pesky trees. I'm just kidding. You can't kill armor.

"The enemy is capturing our flags with a vehicle"

    Try one of the following:
    1. Set mines or C4 at the flag site and wait. For added insult, have an Assault kit throw a smoke grenade before the vehicle arrives.
    2. Bring lots and lots and lots of rockets. When all else fails, call them names. It hurts their feelings.
    3. Bring a vehicle of your own. (Reference the vehicle listing or I will slap you if you complain that you got owned.)
    4. Kill them all off before they even get a chance to look at a vehicle that is not owned by you.

    "My team sucks"

The tried and true solution is to just leave and don't say anything on the way out. Noobs need to learn somewhere, and they just so happened to pick the public server you were on. Here's the major giveaway: the word "public". You want only good players, go look for them. And remember: if your team sucks, it's not always just them. A team consists of all you losers. :p

"We're getting base camped/tank whored/bomber whored/denied our luscious, creamy twinkies"

Can't help you on the twinkie matter, but I do have one suggestion for the other three:

DON'T LET THEM GAIN ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO PIN YOU AT A SINGLE BASE.

If you got pinned at a single base, it's most likely because any shred of command your team had was not sufficient to get each squad (assuming you even had squads) to stay at a base and defend. Yes, I said the "D word". Defend. If you cap a base, hold it. Sure, there are stats and awards and ribbons for being Rambo, but even Rambo can lose a round. You can have the most kills in a match, but your team can still lose. If you want deathmatch stats, go play UT2k4 or Call of Duty. If you want to win by capping all the flags and/or eliminating the entire team, then work as a team. You'd be surprised how quickly the enemy will actually come to you if you defend. Your base is the next in this wonderful game of musical bases, and the enemy will work extra hard if they know it's occupied.

That's all for now. Good luck. And if you have any gripes about how so-and-so got owned, come here.

Great post! This is something that any new member to these boards that wishes to register should be made to read before being able to join the TotalBF2 forums. I'm going to post this in my squads forums, it's that good.

Thought I'd do you the fave and point it out anyway. You're welcome.

Also, if by AA "working 99% of the time", you mean a missile launches when you press fire, it might be accurate. If you meant they might intersect with intended target that often (even without flares), you have to be kidding.

As for attack helos being terrible vs AA, that just isn't remotely true.

But it's okay for you and your neighborhood priest to conduct secret 'confession'
sessions together on Sundays after mass? You're right. These forums are not a fit place to talk about that.
Yep. What my priest and I get up to in our own time is featured on a different website.

Best to save your flares for things actually fired at you, sport.

Fine, I'll clarify. When I say that APCs are equal against helos and other APCs, I'm speaking in terms of when the standoff occurs. If two APCs square off, it's mostly down to two factors: 1-who got the first shot off, and 2-who is the better driver/gunner. Now, when an APC goes up against a helo, this is where the grey area occurs. If the APC gets the drop on a helo (such that the helo did not see the APC roll in) and has a clear view of any of the helo's escape routes, chances are the APC can drop the helo. Now, if the helo gets his eyes on the APC first, then kiss it good night.

That good enough? I can see how it was a little misleading, but now we're 15 posts into this after a useless verbal catfight. Seriously, if you don't have anything constructive to add, just press the "back" button.

...or we could just let people play the way they want to play. As long as they're not cheating or griefing, they paid the same money we did for the game.

Assault - You blow open the door with the nade launcher shoot everyone inside then ask if anyone is home. With your added armor and grenade launcher, you are the spearhead of your squad's attack. (Note the mention of the word "squad".)

I felt this need to be fixed I mean it is war ,but all in all good post.

I have to agree with the "Defend" comments. The best rounds I have had (both in points and enjoyment) have come about from defending an important flag with my squad. As a support player, I have the ability to resupply my squad in between waves of attack while the medics and engineers/spec ops do their thing. We then wait for the lemmings to come flooding in and we do it all over again. Communication and comeraderie abound. Great fun !

                        BadLizzard,

Glad you liked the post, but I think you misconstrued my humor as condescending. I used overt sarcasm to drive a point home. I'm not claiming superior knowledge or imparting any scorn on the new players. Again, if this thread holds no meaning for you, just don't respond. This is for the new players that entered the game, faced some difficulty, and decided to come here to complain. Hence, "If you have a complaint, read this first."

"Antiair armor - great against any kind of aircraft (except bombers on attack vector)"

I'm sorry - but if you are including airplanes 'not on attack vector', I don't see that being true.

"Attack helos - [snip] terrible against anti-air."

A jeep is "terrible" against a tank, and will always lose. Being caught in the sights of an AA tank is 'dangerous', attacking an AA tank with an assault chopper will often/usually result in a dead AA tank. - I wouldn't say an assault chopper is 'terrible' against AA.

"Heavy helos: anti-air armor eat these for breakfast"

Take a transport chopper (I've only seen a blackhawk in this situation, but I imagine they will all do it) with 2 engineers, and circle an AA tank - see what happens - [hint: circling many times around the tank, gun overheating, out of rockets].

"If you got pinned at a single base, it's most likely because any shred of command your team had was not sufficient to get each squad (assuming you even had squads) to stay at a base and defend."

True, but the game is flawed in this area - defending an empty base for 10 minutes gets boring after a round or 2... (Kubra dam for example is the dumbest idea for a map I can remember).

Well said I could not agree more last night I got 56 points, was #1 on the Team at the end of the round(Gold Star for top score as well) single handedly defending the Gas Station on Daqing(as PAL) just took the closest base then headed over to the Gas station closest to their main Base and just took down all comers with TOW's and the Tank that was there was SO much fun and I wish more people would as a Squad take a base and DEFEND it rather than as soon as the flag goes up run off to the next one only to see the base lost 30 Sec. later
I mean if an Army organized itself correctly you could have pretty much 1 squad per Base and hold 3/4 map easily without EVER having to leave it(call it camping all you like but theres a HUGE difference)and trust me you WILL get all the kills you want AND Defend points to boot
