Looks like there is lots of turmoil...and uncertainty around this issue...

    Do i have ftp access?

    Can i kick/ban players?

I do not think you have ftp access but I know you can kick & ban players and also change the map.

ranked provider has to copy the modified scripts to the server directory for you, some providers do, and im sure some dont

you can use all the admin/rcon settings as described here.

ranked servers have to use these specific rules:

          Code:
          sv.password = empty string (don't set password)
          sv.numPlayersNeededToStart = (6 for maxPlayers 16, 10 for 32, 10 for 64)
          sv.spawnTime 15
          sv.manDownTime 15
          sv.ticketRatio 100
          sv.teamRatioPercent 100
          sv.punkBuster 1
without ftp, it will be more difficult to make custom scripts / banlists / etc. but you dont need ftp to change the normal game commands.

you can use the program BF2CC to remote admin your server, change map lists, kick, warn, ban, and change server settings.

we rent from trinity which gives us FTP and also the ability to reboot into ranked or unranked mode (for matches).

i suggest not "leasing" a ranked server from EA.

$8 per slot is a complete and total rip off. 64 players at $512 a month is highway robbery. $512 will get you 5 dedicated servers connected to internet backbones. All you need is one server to host a 64 man gaming server. Those are $99 from any respected hosting company. EA is charging at least 6 times what it costs them.

                  Yuck.

Besides, there are already more ranked servers than we could possibly fill. Only 15% of the ranked servers have 1+ players in them.

You don't need control of a server anyhow, it will just ruin your experience with the game. It will drain your pocket book for a server that no one will play in anyhow. I suggest spending your hard earned money on hardware for your computer.

i can hear u...I hate as much as every admin the ranked servers...

the problem is..that everyone is playing on ranked servers...and unless u have one...ur private will be empty...

of course EA knew that from the beginning..that's why they have done it...to have an indirect way to extract more money....

It's a bad copy of AA's system IMO

I am an admin for our clan's server, the autobalance is part of the software and ban lists too, you don't need ftp access for anything really, it's all done with settings.

you would have to add the individual bans via rcon command. its probably easier with bf2cc because you can cut/paste guid's. here are the manual commands:

                        Code:
                        - admin.banPlayer <player ID number> [timeout]
Enter the player ID number you would like to ban. Bans the player from this server by using their IP address.
                        - Bans can be set on CD key hashes.
                        - Bans are stored as absolute times in banlist.con. Existing bans in banlist.con will be interpreted as permanent bans.

You can choose from a selection of time outs:
                        - Entering 'perm' means that the ban is permanent. This is the default if no time out is entered.
                        - An integral number meaning the number of seconds the ban will be active (i.e. 3600 means one hour).
                        - Entering 'round' means the ban is active until the next map.
                        - A whole number preceded by a colon (i.e. :1234567), meaning the epoch expiration time of the ban (number of seconds since 1 Jan 1970).

                        - admin.banPlayerKey <player ID number> [timeout]
Enter the player ID number you would like to ban. Bans the player from this server by using their CD key hash. You can also specify a time out. See admin.banPlayer for the time out list.

                        - admin.addAddressToBanList <IP address> [timeout]
Enter the IP number you would like to ban. You can also specify a time out. See admin.banPlayer for the time out list.

                        - admin.addKeyToBanList <CD key hash> [timeout]
Enter the CD key hash you would like to ban. You can also specify a time out. See admin.banPlayer for the time out list.

                        - admin.removeAddressFromBanList <IP address>
Enter the IP address you would like to remove from the ban list.

                        - admin.removeKeyFromBanList <CD key hash>
Enter the CD key hash you would like to remove from the ban list.

                        - admin.clearBanList
                        Clears all ban lists.

                        - admin.listBannedAddresses
Displays a list of the currently banned IP addresses.

                        - admin.listBannedKeys
Displays a list of the currently banned CD keys.

Providers that give out FTP access on ranked servers are violating a contract signed with EA. They are legally bound to it and could be sued or just removed from the ranked leasing program.

This is 100% TRUE, you are not allowed to have ftp access to your ranked server at all, ever! Though you can kindly ask your server provider to make a change for you, thats what we do when you can't do it through ftp.

You can use BF2RA to manage your server. Get it from here http://www.bf2online.net/bf2ra-battl...nistrator.html
