For All With Crashing Or Hanging Issues, PCI Latency Tool!!

I had a problem with my game just freezing up in mid game ... or when the round had finished ... i thought it would have been the drivers as when the game hangs it gives out a high screech ... and repetative sound!! So i done what all of you have most likely done ... Updated Drivers, Formated, Re-Installed ........ but still to no avail .. game still hangs!!

Then i remembered the PCI Latency tool ..... and thought my GFX or Sound Card could be hogging all the CPU ... not allowing the Sounds to pass through accessed by the game and sound card .... which causes the game to freeze and crash!!

So i muckd about with the latency settings of my GFX, Sound cards and my AGP Bus .... Now my game runs faster and smoother with no hangs or crashes :-D RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres what i done :

1. Download the PCI Latency tool from HERE

2. Open it up and look at your settings for your GFX card (VGA Compatible Controller) .... Mine were at 248 .... But other GFX cards could be different .... 255 maybe ?? Its in the 200's anyway !!

3. Now right click and change this to 64 .... and change your Soundcard Latency to 64 and your PCI Bridge (AGP) to 64 .... This is what ive done and its helped a lot and stopped hangs :-D

4. Now apply the settings and save .... and check the "Apply On Start Up" box under the Settings drop down!!

5. Make shure its all its all applied and the numbers have all changed to 64 then exit the program .... and try your game

This has worked for me and loads others ... hope it workd for you ... may not work with eVga cards .... sorry!!!

Could work better for pings ..... if you have sluggish gameplay .... try it out ... it helps and speeds up the game play allowing less cycles through the CPU :-D

My two cents:

You can do a quick-set of the latency changes without applying at start-up and then give it a quick test just to make sure it doesn't hose the system. If all looks OK then go back and set to load on start-up.

Not for that type of latency.

He is talking about how the sound and video latency are set up in Windows. This tool allows you to change the settings.

The only thing that will help for ping times is a better connect and or to make sure your MTU is set properly for how you connect to the internet, but that is another discussion entirely.

un zip it ... then there should be an icon like a micro chip ..... click that !!! then edit the values!!

Sniper_13 .... Look to the right of that ... should tell you wether its the AGP bus or the PCI bus ....... you want the AGP 1

I made the change to 64 on the Nvidia 6800 card value, Im not sure which others Im supposed to do. Can you advance better ? Thanks, Tried BF2 with just that change and crashed at multiplayer screen as soon as I spawned and moved. I'm Getting tired of this f**king retarded game.

It's Unreal how it plays better on a slower machine, an AMD 3000 with 1 gig ram and a 5700 ultra game card with a 66.?? driver. UNF**KING REAL

Serb .... What you need to change dude is the GFX card to 64 or 32 ... if it dont work on 64 then try 32 .... Then change your soundcard driver to 64 or 32 .... its a trial and error thing.

Then change your AGP controller to 64 or 32 ... which ever one ?? My agp controller looks like this (nvidia Corporation nforce2 AGP)

My soundcard looks like this (Multimedia Audio Controller - Creative Labs SB Audigy)

GFX card looks like this (VGA Compatible driver - Nvidia Corporation NV36.2 [GEForce FX5700 OC]

Thats what all the values look like when i open the PCI Latency tool ... My gfx card is set to 64 along with the AGP bus ... and my sound card i have dropped to 32.

Everything with the values of 000 ... leave them!

Just change your sound card and gfx card and bus .... maybe all to 64 or all to 32 .... Try and find out what the best settings are for your PC.
