Okay I need help with modeling.

Hello,
I need help with something. I have tried to begin modeling but I don't relly know where to start. I have Gmax and Photoshop CS. Are there any tutorials on how you can make models, or skinning? Please list some if you know any or even just explain how you guys are making these mods.

There are some good VTM's for 3ds max here http://tutorials.moddb.com/16/
They show you how to model a berreta 9000 and was very useful for me, so it will be kind of the same as gmax as gmax is basicly a cut down version of 3ds max.
If he talks about a button or feature in 3ds max and you can't find it in gmx then it probably isn't availiable.
