hey, i live in canada... and i was wondering if i can get a pretty good computer for about 1000$ canadian.... ( a computer that can play battlefield 2 and can be used as a normal computer [homework,msn,etc])

I don't see why not, especially if you already have a monitor/mouse/keyboard and if you build the comp yourself.

1000 bones will get you a very descent comp...my whole setup cost approx 800...and the base was a wal mart comp with monitor keyboard and mouse....its an AMD Sempron 3000+ with 2.2 Ghz 1.5GB ram, ATI Radeon x700 AGP video, sound blaster, and some other odds and ends....

My family recently bought a Medion comp from Future Shop, P4 3 Ghz, 1GB PC3200 RAM and x300 SE radeon card PCI express for around 800 or 900 bucks and I'm satisfied with it. It runs the game pretty well but I bought another 512 MB of ram and an x850 xt PE for good measure.

the x700-850's are nice cards, but dont take it from me, try it out yourself, i love ATI Radeon

Go AMD for your processor, they are better for gaming, and common applications. Intel is geared toward 3D Modeling and Sound processing.
