Okay well I have downloaded the editor and when I try to load a map like strike at karkand it says strike_at_karkand.init" cannot be found. Can anyone one tell me whats up? I just want to mod an already existing map.

You have to unzip the files. Find the level in your BF2 directory, unzip the client.zip (and possibly the server.zip) into that directory. A-ha! All files are there, including that init. :)

Re: Noobish Question
omg , ok 1.thing you DO not want to mod your standered bf2 maps (or bf2 wont be able to run that map ranked ) ok so when you open up editor . chosse new mod . call it whatever you want then give it time to load then shut down the editor , go to your c/program files/ea games/bf2/mods/bf2/levels and copy paste them into c/program files/ea games /bf2/mods/ (the mod that you named , and there should be a folder saying levels if not create one then they should appear in editor next time you open your mod up
hope this helps
Tasty.

Re: Noobish Question
if u have ur mod in a folder put the folder in ea games/bf2/mods folder and make a shortcut like this:
C/Program/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/BF2.exe +modpath mods/(your mod file name)

Re: Noobish Question
You could also just go to community and then custom games.
Oh and to load a map just copy and past the init.con to the maps folder. You dont even need to extract anything
