Everyone knows its a right pain in the ass that when you lay a mine and a friendly runs over it you get a minus score. Should it be that the person that ran over the mine gets a minus score as well? I think he should as the engineer has gone taken the effort to place the mine. Generally there is a shortage of engineers anyway, this would persuade a few more people to go engineers as others will be more vigilant when seeing friendly mines.
Same teams mines, Both should get minus score?

I play engineer alot, mostly for the jackhammer and fixing bh's... I've gotten so tired of being punished by nubs that run over friendly mines that i've basically stopped using them... I used a couple to take out a tank caping a flag last night, and a nearby apc finished him off b4 he ran over the mines....so before I left that area, I made sure to wrench away the mines so I didn't get a tk later on...Comment

yeah, I agree with the OP, but I dont think it goes far enough. As the ENG you should lose NO POINTS at all. the team mate who drove over obvious team-mines with BIG RED SKULLS on them, should be hit with a -4 on his overall score (or at least a -4 on the "team" part). you know what I mean.
I am hopeful the patch is fixing this issue, as like many of you have said, it's really discouraging the ENG class from using a very powerful defensive weapon. I try to be ENG or support class. with all the ass-hats running over mines, I have stayed support class most of the time.
if they fix this issue, I'll be ENG way more, as I am sure most of you will that like to wrench and fix stuff.

I think this is the best solution. Not much lost to either player this way.Originally posted by P3teRI reckon running over a team mates mine should only cost a death. No loss of points to engineer or player who ran over but just a death.
It does leave the potential for a dodgy player who plays engineer to TK team mates and get away with it but it seems about the best compromise to me.Comment

I dunno. I hate idiot teammates who run over my mines, especially when they're in plain sight. But they need the - points to prevent intentionally TKing, maybe just not as many minused and forgiving minuses nothing (which it should be for everything). They should have friendly mines show up on the MAP so they could be seen and avoided easier... not that they can't be seen easily already, there are just a lot of stupid people who play the game who may need more help avoiding suicide. <.<Comment

I dunno I think this problem is beyond giving addtional visual clues to prevent players hitting mines. I honestly don't think there is anything you could put in game that would stop some players doing it.
I have given up using mines now it is basically so bad. Mines seem to act like a noob magnet. I swear you could plant them in the most obsure place on the map and some team mate would still find them.Comment

I think it might help if they make the skull and crossbones appear a little farther away. I know i've come flying down a road only to see the red skull suddenly and slammed on the brakes stopping inches from the mines.
Then someone behind me doesn't stop and runs them right over blowing us both up.Comment
