Weird BF2 problem....

Hey, i know there have been loads of questions about problems running the game/demo, but if you could give me a hand id really appriciate it.

Ive got a really wierd problem with BF2 demo. If i try to run a single player level, it jfinishes loading, then just stays on "loading complete, Veryfing client data" or something, and never leaves it. If I go on a multiplayer level (online) It just stays on "connecting to server". The really wired thing is that it has worked, but only once. Its so odd that it never works, and then it suddenly worked just once.

My system specs are 2.56Ghz P4 CPU, 1GIG DDR RAM, XFX 6800GT 256MB.... I dont think i should be having any trouble with requirements or anything with my setup though...

I was gonna buy then game, but if the demo wont run, then im not sure i want to risk buying it then it not working. Has anyone else had similar problems like this? Im pretty sure my card is supported aswell.
Can anyone help me?

turn off firewall? AV? do virus scan, the usual stuff. Check drivers, etc, check you didnt modifiy any game files...

Ok, By AV did you mean AVG? I have the latest Nvidia drivers, 77.72 i believe.

Also, i got my new graphics card yesterday (the 6800GT). Before I got my card I had a 9000PRO, and EXACTLY the same thing happened, so i dont think its anything to do with the card.

i smell windows firewall again lol,
make sure it has permissions, if it does and you have the same problems turn it off, its about as much use as a chocolate fire guard anyways, a friend had this very problem after i built his machine FW had permissions set for bf2 but it still blocked it, try downloading zonealarm if you feel you still need a FW its free

Shall I try running it with all my antivirus/firewall programs off?

yeah try it m8, at least ya can rule it out if its still being funny, also are ya using a router?

I just thought, im connected through a network, if someone else had a firewall running on their PC while I run BF2, could that affect it?

thats the one, make sure bf2 has permissions set on the main server / network admin

Yeh go into Zone alarm and allow it permantley, i had Zone alarm but it pissed me off so much i uninstalled it.

make sure yor firewall gives bf2 the orrect access to allow you to play online
