Nah, I'd say pressing '3' is the easiest way, because the mouse wheel way requires moving the mouse wheel, getting it back on the rifle, and clicking once more.

Pressing '3' is just a single key to get the job done. Not to mention it's normally like right above the 'W' key, so that shouldn't be a problem at all.
