Does aiming for the head really do more damage?

Recently, I've had this problem:

Let's say I have the America M16A weapon as the medic. I will hit with my first burst a MEC medic, and he will fire back. I hit him with my first two bursts, but he somehow kills me first.

We are both standing and at full health. My aim was right on his chest, but should I aim for the head? Will it definitely kill faster?

Yes it will. Don't forget that all the player models have some form of body armour to protect them. Head/neck shots are the way to get an instant kill, whereas the body area will mean more shots to obtain the same result.

Yes it definately will. no doubt about it. Problem is hitting the head, as its a smaller target than the body, but it does make a difference

yeah its sometimes hard to hit the head mainly cause of the guns

It sure does do more damage, but you need to balance that with the fact that it is harder to hit..

One thing that I noticed that helps is your reaction time. If you both spot each other at the same time, but you prone and start shooting faster, you can win the fight easier.

Sniper rifle shots to the head equal instant kills

I'm pretty sure that headshot's do double damage or something like that. I always aim for the head with more precise weapons, but with the ak or something, i just go for the body.

instant kill if you hit an enemy head with an ak47, ak 101, pkm, g3, m24, m95....etc etc.

yup shotguns too - had one guy bounce up and blast me in the head while i was behind one of those makeshift walls on stalemate. Boing .. Pop!.. You've Been Killed

Headshots are 1hitkills with everything except for the pistols and SMGs.
