Just wondering which Joysticks are supported by bf2. I was looking at the Saitek Cyborg Evo Force and the regular Saitek. Are the very hard to program?
Which Joysticks are supported?

And how is the Saitek working? I have been using the Thrustmaster After Burner and put every bird into the ground upon takeoff. Jets respond well enough but the hellicopters are impossible.Comment

Anything with a twist handle or hat, because generally you use the stick movement as W/S/A/D and the hat/twist for the arrow keys.
Also, im not sure if BF2 accepts game port joysticks, probably has to be USB.Comment

I got the Saitek Evo and am happy with it, though I tend to still use the keyboard for throttle rather then the built in lever.
As for programming...you really don't need to do anything special. BF2 recognizes all the buttons out of the box...except for one thing: I could not get the hat switch to work for POV like you would expect in a simulator. No amount of config programming would help.
What I finally had to do was use the Saitec setup util to program the hat to be recoginized as a mouse. That way, when I'm flying, I can press a mouse-look modifyer button and move the hat around to change my POV. It works, but it's annoying because 1) You have to press a button to activate it, and 2) as soon as you press the mouse-look modifyer button, bf2 locks out any other control inputs. If anyone knows a way to avoid this, PLEASE let me know!Comment

I would just go for the Cyborb Evo, unless you have the extra money for the Force. If you have some money to blow, get the X45. I have the Cyborg Evo, and love it.
Joysticks = the pwn for planes
Joysticks = not pwn for choppers (no auto-hover, it's more like DC that way :P)Comment

Been there & aleady solved it ! You need to download a free program called AutoHotKey http://www.autohotkey.com/ and it allows you to write scripts to mimic keyboard/mouse/joystick movements etc... plus loads of other cool stuff. I have written a little script that reads the HAT switch, and then holds down the L-CTRL key & mimics mouse movement. It works really nicely. I would post the script now, but the PC it is on is not running ATM, should be able to get it in 1 or 2 days. There is an early version of the script I posted on the AutoHotKey forums pages - clicky - its got a few bugs, my latest version is working much better. (Thxs to Talus over at battlefieldfrontlines for suggestions & coding help).Originally posted by WarthogI got the Saitek Evo and am happy with it, though I tend to still use the keyboard for throttle rather then the built in lever.
