ANOTHER 9200 prob

Before I buy Battlefield 2 I was wondering if the Retail version of BF2 is compatible with a 9200SE card (power spec) with only 4x AGP (yeah..Old motherboard).

I just got the card like a year ago on sale at microcenter and i would hate to buy another one, I just dont have the money.

If there is a way to configure the card (overclock, emulate pixle shader..ect) i would love to find out. keep in mind that i only have a 4x AGP slot though. =/

As for my response... the 9200 can play this game if I'm correct (minimum specs say you must have at least an ATI Radeon 8500) but you'd more than likely have to play at 800x600, and with almost everything on LOW.

I may be incorrect, and it may be so bad it's unplayable, but I'm not sure.

I guess the only thing I can say is DOWNLOAD THE DEMO! That'd be the real test. :)

i had a 9200se and it ran the game "ok" on the demo, but I would recommend you trying the demo since I dont know what the rest of your computer specs are.

Anyway, i did the Demo and the closest i got to play the game (well 2 times) is when i had my old driver and i saw the title screen with selection. the secound time was when it went back, but i heard the music and i clicked and heard the music change (but still black mind you).

Now it just ends at the Battlefield 2 logo.

I have played the game with good frames on default with a really highend motherboard on 4x agp with the 9200....not the se but the 9200. played good.800x600 all on low...you can still enjoy the game but i had a 3.2 processor and a gig of ram...so...it might work

I tried everything! i do have ATI trey tools, it can overclock and do the pixel shader things but i never fooled with it (fear i might overheat or screw my card really badly).

I really want to play BF2..eh but im guessing it wont happen till I get money. If ya got any suggestions, i'll take em.

umm...i forget what type of 9200 mine is...but i just went to the "SMARTGART" area of the controls and changed the AGP from 8x to 4x...i was having the same prob. as you...so might try that...

I can't speak to the ATI card you have, as I've always been an Nvidia user, but try to get enough RAM so that you can actually enjoy the game.

I thought I was in good shape with my full Gig of RAM, but after playing the game for a week (and watching my hard drive activity light go nutz for half that play time), I decided to put another 512 in just to see if it helped. Man it made all the difference in the world.

Hey can't change up to 8x AGP.

Well I can run a playable game using a 2.4/512/9000pro. It took some tweaking but it plays at 800/30fps. Really gives you an appreciation for DX9 tho (card is DX8). No lighting and stuff, pretty muddy graphics.

I suggest really trying to get a 9500 maybe. If a 9800pro is $100, the 9500 must be pretty cheap by now. Then you can even overclock it to a 9700, but fan for mod is extra money.
