Mate, yeh this is the general forum... there is, or at least was, a rants and raves forum as well. And you did say yourself that you were ranting a bit or something along those lines, so perhaps this was the wrong forum to post it. Having said that though, you did point out valid issues regarding squad leaders, and i assume you also wanted people to read it, hence you posted in here rather than the rants forum. -

As SpecOp, 90% of the time I squad-up, I look for a Medic, or Engie as SL. I feel I can really help these classes do their jobs better and therefore make the squad more effective.
I would never go with Sniper SL for that exact reason. He's a one-man show. Nor would I squad-up with a flyboy SL (unless its the Black Hawk).Comment

well im usually a sniper squad leader and i try to get close to the battle and close enough to where my teammates can spawn on me and help take a control point. while i stay just out of reach they can keep on running inOriginally posted by virussnt...is a lone wolf sniper type that sits on top of a building miles from any action hoping for some stray to walk into his sights. You must be the only one then (Sniper) that plays as part of a team. Most others I've seen play by themselves.Originally posted by alkajazzwell im usually a sniper squad leader and i try to get close to the battle and close enough to where my teammates can spawn on me and help take a control point. while i stay just out of reach they can keep on running inComment

Bah... all you guys just like to flame regardless of the legitimacy of it. (I guess it just gives you a thrill or something or perhaps a small ego boost--whatever.)
virussnt has given a voice to some of my silent complaints about certain squad leaders, and I thank him for that.
First, I doubt anyone who is savvy enough to notice and then articulate these deficits is "noob" enough to join a squad with a sniper in the lead in the first place. What happens is the leader is lone wolfing it, and after you join he then decides to become a sniper, or almost worse, a jet camper. Even this can be acceptable if he were to give orders to his squad ("Defend here" or "Attack here"), but that never happens.
So you flamers put on your cute Captain Obvious capes and chime in, "Join another sqaud, you noob, or form your own." But that's the problem! There usually are no other squads, and if we wanted to lead the squad, we would have already created our own in the first place, don't you think? (I love team play, but I don't want to be the leader. As an analogy, just because I don't want to be President doesn't mean I prefer anarchy.)
To sum up, frankly, if you can't can't handle the responsibility, then you don't deserve the perks. Resign your position and let the other five people start playing effectively as a TEAM again. Thanks.Comment

Wait a second. A squad leader who is a sniper can give you a very good spawn point that will remain reliable.Originally posted by virussnt...is a lone wolf sniper type that sits on top of a building miles from any action hoping for some stray to walk into his sights. While his squad spawns with him and have to run across the map to get into the fight
...spends the whole battle driving around in a 2 seater tank not allowing his other squad members to spawn with him. Even worse he is one of the last remaining players once the enemy caps all spawns and he just sits in his tank even when the whole squad is begging him to jump out of the tank for a second and let them spawn.
...gets the whole squad spawned into an APC (cool this guy knows how to play...NOT) then avoids any side roads or short cuts and runs head long into the closest enemy base which is gaurded by every tank, AT mine and pack of C4 the enemy can muster.
OK...I feel better now.Comment
