    Possible "Skill" ranking formula:

ok well seeing as i disagree with the blogal score system currently in place for rankings, ive thought of one possible way to do this.

get your Kill/Death ratio, and multiply it by your score per minute.

this factors in skill (kd ratio) as well as efficiency (score/minute) and doesnt favour the doll bludgers with 350 hours etc.

its not perfect; it lends itself to vehicle "whores" (whore as in anybody who does half decent) and/or people who havent played much at all. (only a couple hours but all good rounds)

i cant counter the first one; vehicle "whores" simply get better scores. while this may seem unfair to the ground pounders, realisticly, you wll fijnd that vehicle whoring _does_ actually help your team more. flags arent like dc; its kills that win games now.

for the time one, ill just say that to qualify to rank yourself this way you need a minimum of 20 hours..just to be sure.

i know you cant quantify skill, but what i am doing is trying to replicate the results if you did.

anyway im not a code monkey but if anybody wants to write ths scripting for a board like this im sure quite a few people would be interested. you could even do it for certain weapons (assault rifle, pistol, helicopter etc)

in the meantime, post here with your exact score and we'll see whos up there with the best of the totalbf2 players. :)

p.s. do not try to post "this doesnt represent true skjill" or any crap. lets really get this going and see whos up there with the best - regardless of how many hours of your life youve wasted. :)

yea, but a high KD ratio doesn't necessarily mean skill. I can be 10:1 in a tank, but if all i do is sit and shoot them, that doesn't mean i'm skilled.

Now, if i'm on the front lines and battling every thing they have to throw at me, and i have a high KD, that means that i have at least some skill.

Same with any kit. Anyone can sit back somewhere and pick off enemied with a sniper rifle, and never get close to the front, and have a 50:1 KD, that doesn't always mean skill.

thats why it includes score/minute too - sit back with a sniper rifle and lets see how many point u get each minute.

to get a good score/minute u need to be near lots of enemies

to be near lots of enemies means theres lots of people trying to kill you.

so by being near lots of enemies and still having a good KD usually means you have some element of skill.

anyway ffs stop debating it and post your scores :P i wanna see if all those "im so awesome" posters can back up their claims...will be interesting im sure. :)

              Alright, did the math...I had a 2.40 score per minute and a 1.41 k/d ratio...ended up with 3.384.

Not sure how that compares to everyone else, though. :p

This is team game. Your system needs to include a player's team score, not just kills/deaths.

If my team score is at least 2x my combat score in a round, I feel I've done my job.

                  Btw, I only play medic

if you would take the system this way, well, then you would end up with 5 bilion acounts, if time doesn't mather anymore, multiple acounting will be abused.

And the top players will be guys, playing the game like for the first 10 min, when lucky they nade three guys at start of round, is 3 kills a min and K/d ratio of 3/0 .

                      1.68 score per min x 2.5 KD ratio = 4.21

btw score per minute includes teamwork - if you can get lots of teamwork points without dying an overly exessive amount, you will still have a great score.

cmon guys, ill post mine as well

                        18.6

Well im not sure why ppl are in clans if they dont care about the compition. Its like joining a recreational sports team. Kinda weird.

For me, ya its all about the compition. And the system seems ok.

Both KDR and SPM or SPR are flawed, using them would just make a more balenced system that doesn't show skill.

its hard to tell skill from stats.. I for one dont play for stats.. so my KPM is really low. i like to sit back and watch a bridge i have rigged with C4. i sit there for a while sometimes until a tank crosses.
