Roads... I see plenty of questions about roads on the Bf2 editor site.. but I'm not getting an answer there yet.. can anyone here help?
One I have is... exacty what function do roads serve in the map itself?
Other than provide lanes of movement that can be provided by just laying out your map, is there any specific reason to put down the roads/splines/etc instead of just using a detail texture and color to make your own pathways?
Could you say for instance... put down a concrete detail texture and color in between buildings for an urban map and get away with it?
I am planning a flat urban map with a lot of buildings, canals criss crossing the area with bridges and walk up points throughout the canals.
Would I have to use roads anywhere on the map for an urban setting if I didn't want to?
What advantages to mapping do roads provide?
Thanks for any answers or insights you may have
