    What makes a good commander?

    Hey :)

I have recently had a go at being a commander for the first time unfortunately with pretty poor results. I tried to provide what i would want from a commander which is a lot of info/scans etc and supplies. However either i didn't do this well or people want a different type of commander. So what do you want from a commander? Obviously most servers only have about 1 decent (ie 4 plus members) squad and often the rest run about happily doing their own thing even if you do try to point them in the right direction. So managing multiple squads although desirable is often not possible.

So can anyone give me some pointers?

    Thanks

oh btw i read the basic guide in the tips n tricks section so i know what i am doing, i think, just not what i should be doing. Unfortunately although people are quite happy to inform you how unhappy they are very few if any that tell you what they would like you to be doing instead

    - DO NOT use artilery whenever it is ready, this way you can use it when it's realy needed and then it can be realy devasting and you will get many more kills this way and less TK

    - DO NOT drop suply everywhere on the map, enemy's can use this also, half of the time I drop suply between 2 points, so APC and TANKS can repair/reload on the way to the enemy

    - DO NOT say attack here, attack here, attack here every other second to a squad

    - use scan first and decide then where to put the RPV

there is much more, but I am tyred of typing

Try and think on a bigger scale, for example instead of getting everybody to attack the first flag point, get a squad to take out the E base or something and work your way in guiding them with UAV.

oh and remember your team can't see the scans, so use them to find out the best position to place the UAV or Artillery.

This is actually taken out of the battlefield 2 manual.

You could use your artilery on your oppenant artilery therefor destroying it.

thats one thing i wasn't sure about. I know that the team can't see the scans but if i right click on an enemy red dot and click the 'spotted' option i have till now presumed that this will show up on my team's radar..am i corrrect in this assumption or just constantly annoying my team by shouting 'spotted' at no preciase place? I don't use arty a lot as i tend to use it poorly. :hmm: i use it more as a backup than a primary weapon due to the time diff between selecting to fire and the actual barrage

thanks to all for the feedback so far
