That's really an odd problem. I had a simular problem with using my line 2 for my mic. I made a really cool fix for that by the way.... but that would be hyjacking :)

I'm using an audigy platnuim EX, not sure if you have this option or not, but In my AudioHQ, if I go to device controls, I have a headphones tab. In there I check both boxes, to automatically mute speakers when headphones are plugged in, and I love the optimized 3d sound option when using headphones.

So everytime I plug in my headphones, it turns off my speakers.

        Something sound a little strange.

What I would do, is not change it to headphones. I would make all the changes using the speakers tool from within the AudioHQ (not from within windows control panel), and I would leave it as 2.1. If you have the headphone option checked from the device controls it will automatically change when you plug the headphones in.

Another thing I've learned is plug the headphones (and mic) in before you start up BF2.

Quick question, are you plugging the headphone jack into the back of the card or the external box? (Does the ZS ship with the external box?)

+ i dont think that my computer recognizes when i plug the headphones in

its just realy strange, i think it has somthing to do with the bf2 settings
i had the samen when i didnt put the mic boost on in bf2, it went off in windows aswell then
