    distorted textures and disappearing objects

When i first got the game it ran relatively smooth with the occasional hiccup and fps drop. So to fix this i decided to update the drivers...from an earlier omega drivers to ati catalyst 5.7.

i ran battlefield and after a short time objects such as tanks and trees started to disappear or blink. then the texture of buildings, grass and vehicles changed to a multi colored mess which made gameplay difficult.

i rolled back to the previous drivers then tried newer omega drivers and attempted using the 2.5.6 ngo drivers. all showing the same problem
i also tried reinstalling battlefield 2 and tweaking with the settings all to no avail

    Pentium 4 2.80c
    1.5gb pc3200 ram
    gigabyte radeon 9800 pro
    help. thx

This is a known bug (at distance). If its at short distance, then that is something else.

If its the 1st one, everybody has it, and I hope Dice fixes it.

You aren't overclocking are you? Make sure the fan on your Vid Card is spinning that looks like an overheating problem.

That looks like what happened to my 9800 pro when the power went out during a storm.when I turned the comp back on had bad or missing textures. Ati said the memmory went bad on my vid card .

i'm pretty sure it isnt an over-heating problem since i have an arctic cooling vga silencer with some arctic silver 5 under it.
i also have a fan blowing at full blast into the case.

Did you uninstalled the old drivers first before installing the newer drivers.
Im using 5.7 at the moment and have no trouble with it yet!

You most likely have a x600 to x800 series graphics card then, i think its something to do with the High Definition feature on the latest driver, 9xxx series dont support it, i think????

                        I concur with the poster

I too have experienced this but not as bad as you.
I get it mostly when Grenades explode around me and I stand nxt to a shooting tankzorz.

You know, when the screen is supposed to go all blurry and such, but I get green blocky textures instead, sometimes red.

I have tried uninstalling the game several times, the drivers, updating and all to no avail...

Anyone have a good tip, I'd be more than happy.

                            5bjoshua thanks for the advice

i went to the gigabyte webpage and downloaded the 5.5 catalyst drivers which
seemed to do the trick now it runs nice and smooth

i also deleted the shader cache in the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
